Your Next Career Opportunity – Field Supervisor, Capital Projects
The Field Supervisor, Capital Projects role oversees work performance in the field related to the development, construction, acceptance and handover to operations of new tower sites and other capital projects. This role typically interacts with contractors and subcontractors charged with performing work on behalf of the Company and with customers and customer representatives who are involved with the installation and maintenance of customer equipment at the site. This role also interacts with municipal representatives, local permitting agencies and other local stakeholders to ensure all work is performed in compliance with local codes and permissions.
The Field Supervisor, Capital Projects reports directly to the Senior Manager, Capital Projects but is typically assigned to support one or more Project Managers for completion of their site development projects. The incumbent works closely with the Project Manager to plan, schedule, supervise, optimize, expedite, correct and close-out all project activity in the field, from the initial planning meeting to the final site handoff to SBA’s Operations team, ensuring that project timelines are met and project costs are within budget. The Field Supervisor-Capital Projects also works closely with SBA’s Quality Assurance team to ensure all work performed and all resulting work products and deliverables meet SBA’s work standards.
What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
Works with Project Manager(s) to plan and manage all site deployment activities, including internal pre-deployment meetings, client deployment meetings, contractor deployment meetings, etc. to ensure all projects are performed and completed in compliance with Company policies and procedures and in accordance with project plans, schedules and budgets.
Supervises field activities associated with assigned projects from project initiation, through feasibility and scoping to coordination of site works to final site acceptance.
Responsible for supervision, coordination, and decision-making in the field, in accordance with the project's established guidelines and timelines.
Evaluates resources needs in the field for assigned projects, ensuring all internal and third-party resources are used effectively to achieve project goals and deliverables, and requesting resources changes as deemed necessary.
Responsible for managing individual project budgets to ensure assigned projects attain an acceptable profit margin and returns on investment.
Proactively builds and maintains strong relationships with SBA contractors, customer employees and representatives, customer contractors, local community and municipality representatives and other stakeholders related to assigned projects; maintains consistent communication, manages stakeholder needs and expectations.
Proactively identifies potential risk issues, escalates as appropriate, and collaborates cross-functionally to develop and implement preventative action plans to address them.
Ensures the project’s goals, objectives, quality standards, and appropriate Company policies and procedures are adhered to and met.
Ensures consistent communication occurs throughout areas of responsibility, with both internal and external stakeholders.
Updates Company systems with milestones and other required and relevant project information and documentation on a timely basis in accordance with procedures.
Follows all internal processes and ensures appropriate approvals are obtained in conjunction with assigned projects.
Ensures all project participants in the field comply with the Company’s Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
Performs other tasks, projects and duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical Engineering and/or Construction Management preferred; equivalent work experience in construction supervision acceptable.
3-5 years (3) or more years of experience in project managing wireless telecommunication site development, including collocation and site sharing.
Demonstrated expertise in project/ program management with wireless telecommunication site construction projects through prior experience in network deployment and/ or large-scale construction projects preferred.
Strong working knowledge of all aspects of the wireless tower industry including knowledge of tower citing and construction, engineering, zoning, tenant and ground leases, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated knowledge and intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
>60% of the time is spent in the field to perform job responsibilities; overnight and extended stay travel will be required on occasion.
Valid government-issued Driver's License
