About The Position | Major goals and objectives and location requirements 

 

InStyle is looking for a skilled fashion writer to produce thoughtful, engaging fashion content across the brand’s platforms. In this role, you’ll primarily be responsible for pitching and writing fashion and celebrity style news, as well as trending stories with a focus on creating content that will drive traffic and engagement. This editor will report to the Fashion Director, working closely with the News Director and audience teams to identify the specific ways in which our fashion content can reach new audiences, as well as meet the needs of our existing audiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of fashion industry trends and brands, passion for celebrity style, and an interest in data and metrics and how to apply that knowledge to sharpen content creation. 

This position is based in New York and requires working three days per week in the New York office.

About The Positions  Contributions:

Weight % - Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

85% - Pitch, write, and produce smart, engaging, and visually appealing fashion news and trending stories

10% - Execute fashion franchises across our platforms, including on-site, social, and video

5% - Support fashion team by attending market appointments, fashion shows, and running fashion month cal

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 

Experience:

3+ years of experience within the fashion industry and fashion news writing.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Quick, accurate news-writing skills

  • Knowledge of the fashion industry

  • Strong grasp of SEO, growth-optimization best practices.

  • An understanding of what will perform well on various traffic referral platforms including Google Discover, Apple News, Instagram, TikTok, and email newsletter, among others

  • Ability to track real-time and long-term analytics.

  • Ability to identify trends and translate them into relatable, grabby, service-driven content

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees.
