Description

What we are looking for:

Nova is seeking an Experimental Physicist with broad exposure to multiple technologies, ideally with a strong background in ultrafast optics. Experience or familiarity with semiconductor process control and fabrication is considered a strong advantage.

As a New-Tech Physicist, you will lead and execute concept and feasibility studies, working both independently and in close collaboration with internal teams and external partners. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying, evaluating, and integrating emerging technologies that will shape Nova’s innovation roadmap and future product portfolio.

Role Responsibilities

What will you be doing:

  • Lead and execute early-stage research projects to explore, validate, and de-risk new technological concepts, including hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, and simulations
  • Identify emerging industry needs and proactively scout disruptive and enabling technologies to address future challenges
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams and external partners (academia and industry) to drive feasibility studies and concept development
  • Influence Nova’s strategic technology direction by introducing novel, high-impact ideas into the company’s innovation and technology portfolio
Requirements

Requirements:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics or a related engineering discipline
  • Strong hands-on experience with complex experimental setups and measurements; experience in ultrafast optics is a strong advantage (e.g., femtosecond lasers, OPOs, pump–probe experiments)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and algorithm development, using relevant software tools such as MATLAB and/or Python
  • Experience in optical and mechanical system design – an advantage
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and fab environments – an advantage
  • Proven ability to evaluate and compare diverse technological approaches based on different physical principles
  • Strong experimental consideration skills, including designing, building, and optimizing complex laboratory setups

That special something you bring in:

  • Innovative and curious mindset, with the confidence to challenge conventional solutions
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative, out-of-the-box approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead in a matrix environment
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
