The Post-Production Executive will lead Feature Film Post Production, setting strategy, standards, and workflows across Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production. Employing the latest technologies to increase efficiency. This role oversee Post Production logistics, budgets, cost projections, resource allocation and finishing across the feature film portfolio and oversee approximately 12-15 movies per year. The role manages a team of post production executives and interfaces with senior executives in production, creative, marketing, and distribution.
Pre-Production
- Supervise budgeting of post-production, sound, editorial, and delivery requirements for all pictures.
- Collaborate with the Cinematographer to develop the best digital capture method based on their camera choice and their preferred crew.
- Knowledgeable of camera capture methods and for image science, establish early at Camera and Hair/Make-up/Wardrobe tests.
- Set strategic direction of new image science workflows (e.g., ACES) and color space capture for new cameras (e.g. Alexa 35’s LogC4)
- Work with the DIT to integrate a seamless capture method in establishing the digital workflow to ensure a consistent image science and highest quality is delivered to Studio and Filmmakers.
- Establish and oversee Post Production quality, content security, and operational standards for all content throughout the entirety of principal photography.
- Oversee editorial staffing, resources, production infrastructure, location for production, rent rooms, and equipment.
- Work on behalf of the department across all shows with Infosec to ensure all vendors are current with the latest security protocols.
- Work with Production IT to ensure strict network, bandwidth/connectivity and information security protocols are implemented.
- Lead cross-functional alignment including Production, Camera, Sound, Transpo, and Editorial. Ensure every step in principal photography requiring data capture and migration is understood by all relevant crew members.
Production
- Ensure Filmmakers needs are met and be aware of any issues regarding content security, back up and timely dailies releases to Filmmakers and studio. Be available to discuss concerns of image (color) accuracy between formats. And various other requests made by production and Filmmakers.
- Monitor security of all dissemination of content.
- Ensure Editorial is working to get the first assembly cut and receive their deliverables in a timely manner and in the correct form discussed in preproduction.
Post-Production
- Obtain Bids for all Editorial and Sound Crew Rooms and Equipment. Obtain bids for Digital Intermediate and Sound Mixing. Help Select and Hire Supervising Sound Editor.
- Assemble additional editorial as needed (ie VFX Editors, additional Asst. Editors).
- If needed, secure rooms/equipment for Editors crews returning from a remote location during principal photography.
- Work closely with Filmmakers to ensure they are getting what’s needed for the directors cut.
- Work closely with Sound Editorial and VFX to ensure they can provide filmmakers temp sound and VFX to Editorial in time for Previews and/or submissions.
- Oversee any and all screenings of any cuts of the work in progress film, including remote previews and publicity screenings.
- Manage Post Production financial performance, risks, and significant cost decisions.
- Help plan and execute preview screenings.
- Anticipate issues related to changes in schedule, cost, and delivery.
- Oversee all Editorial turnovers for Conform of the final picture with the Sound crew post-production facility.
- Work with Sony Technologies to implement a new strategy for cloud-based storage of deliverables.
- Migrate antiquated deliverable assets from prior projects to the cloud-based format, ensuring their ability to be accessed and worked with quickly and at any time.
- Liaise with Archival, Home Video, and worldwide product fulfillment to ensure delivery deadlines and needs are met. Added content is delivered.
- All requirements to back up and any deliverables necessary to archive the project are met.
- Partner with senior leaders across Production, Creative, Legal, Business Affairs, Finance, Labor Relations, marketing, distribution, and other Studio functions to advance production and business priorities.
- Track and schedule any MPAA submissions, and submissions to foreign territories. Create bespoke/supplemental versions as needed.
- Remain diligent regarding schedule and ensure Studio and all departments have the most time possible to deliver the final picture within time to make release within the allowed budget.
- Oversee the Temp Mix and Early Color Correction of the movie. Oversee any Final Mix and Color Correction of the Movie.
- Delivery of the final QC’d picture to the studio for worldwide release.
- Develop Post Production leadership and teams, establishing clear accountability for functional and production outcomes.
- Laise with domestic and international distribution to coordinate delivery requirements and timing for release.
Additional Technology
- Drive Post Production alongside Sony Technology to adapt strategy and adoption of emerging capabilities that improve quality, efficiency, and scalability.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $487,610 to $584,384. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
