POSITION SUMMARY:
??????Provides direction to and supervision of nurses and certified nurse’s aids to provide health care to children and families utilizing services at the Children’s Healthcare Program according to the standards set forth by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health. Customarily and regularly directs two or more employees. Work requires advanced knowledge in the field of nursing. Position requires the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment and skilled nursing care to the patients within their established plan of treatment under the supervision of the Director of Nursing for Maryville Academy and the Children’s Healthcare Programs Medical Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follows all Maryville’s standard policies and procedures as well as all Standards operating procedures for the Children’s Healthcare Program.
- Complies weekly budget, monitors and orders laundry, medical supplies
- Monitors program to ensure that youth receive appropriate treatment in a safe and nurturing family environment.
- Participates in the selection interview process and makes recommendations for the hire and placement of new employees
- Is expected to arrive on time for scheduled hours and nursing report.
- Creates and manages the staff schedule. Is required to cover a different work day/shift if needed for the safety and well being of the children in the program.
- Recertifies and ensures that all staff recertify CPR, TB screen and physical as required by policy.
- Ensures that staff document in the clinical records all assessments, medical training for family members, client changes and procedures as they occur and at least every three hours.
- Ensures the processing of orders for all children utilizing within 2 hours of order being received.
- Provides patient care according to the job description of a Registered Nurse when needed.
- Facilitates a full social history on all children, adolescents and young adults within 24 hours of admission.
- Documents reason for delays/refusal. Facilitates completion of social history assessment within 24 hours of admission or on Monday following weekend admissions
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
- Graduate of a certified Registered Nurse Program
- Must be currently licensed as an RN in the state of Illinois
- Must be CPR certified
- Experience in pediatric, emergency care or hospital nursing is preferred
- One year of supervisor experience preferred
Skills /Knowledge:
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to access plan and evaluate patient care
- Ability to identify sudden adverse developments in patient condition
- Requires knowledge of disease process
- Requires ability to perform various nursing procedures such as trach suctioning and GT feedings
Physical Demands:
- Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop and walk, sometimes for extended periods
- Required to lift/ move objects weighing in excess of 20 pounds
- Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above
Environment and Scheduling:
- Work is performed in designated administrative office and clinical settings
- Duties may involve contact with youth who may be threatening, aggressive and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary
- May be scheduled to work on weekends and/or holidays
Pay Range: $75,000-95,000

Skills Required
- Graduate of a certified Registered Nurse program
- Current RN license in the state of Illinois

- Ability to perform tracheostomy suctioning and gastrostomy tube (GT) feedings
