The Personal Contents Property Adjuster is responsible for managing a caseload of personal property claims arising from fire, water, pest infestation, and theft losses at storage facilities. This role includes reviewing rental agreements, investigating losses through video surveillance, gate logs, and statements from the facility, insured, and witnesses, as well as validating submitted personal property value worksheets. The adjuster will also manage independent adjusters and experts, interpret policy language to determine coverage and payment, post and evaluate reserves, prepare coverage letters and reports, and deliver strong customer service.

This position reports to the Team Leader. The selected candidate should demonstrate initiative, strong prioritization skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, adaptability, and a commitment to industry best practices and claim-handling requirements in a fast-paced environment. The role requires working in the office at least three days per week.

Position Responsibilities

  • Investigate facts of loss, including computerized damage estimating for personal property
  • Conduct coverage analysis to determine eligibility and applicable exclusions
  • Prepare coverage letters, including disclaimers and Reservation of Rights letters, for customers
  • Ensure timely posting of loss and expense reserves and manage claims from assignment through completion
  • Review and follow client handling instructions
  • Settle claims promptly and fairly
  • Maintain data accuracy through proper coding and system use
  • Apply strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills
Qualifications
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in policy interpretation
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience using claims handling systems
  • Experience reviewing property damage estimates, such as Xactimate
  • Adjuster licensing preferred
  • Claims handling experience preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities and circumstances

An applicable resident or designated home state adjuster’s license is required for ESIS Field Claims Adjusters.  Adjusters that do not fulfill the license requirements will not meet ESIS’s employment requirements for handling claims. ESIS supports independent self-study time and will allow up to 4 months to pass the adjuster licensing exam.

The pay range for the role is $78,000 to $112,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
