We work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams across the company to analyze market opportunities, create winning strategies, and inform important decisions with insightful, data-driven recommendations based on a deep knowledge of the business, customers, and external market factors.

About ERM at Bose

The ERM team ensures that practical and sustainable enterprise risk management practices are used to help Bose fulfil its business goals and strategies while reducing risk exposure to the corporation. We work closely with the Risk Steering Committee to identify and monitor current and emerging risks to the business and enact countermeasures to protect against them; we support functional leaders by embedding good risk management practices in day-to-day operations; and we provide reporting to the Audit Committee of the Bose Board of Directors to help them fulfil their duties with respect to Enterprise Risk Management. We support the use of best practices to ensure risk-informed decision making toward business goals. This includes using a consistent ERM framework to identify and assess top risks as they arise, develop mitigation plans, identify and track indicators of risk level and readiness, and provide timely and accurate reporting to management. ERM is a part of the Corporate Strategy group.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced risk professional to lead the day-to-day implementation of our corporate ERM programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and working closely with company leaders from all functional areas, you’ll help identify and assess the top enterprise risks and develop mitigation strategies. You’ll partner with risk liaisons across the company’s operations to deploy effective countermeasures and monitor progress against targets. And, you’ll regularly prepare and deliver insightful presentations and recommendations to executive leaders and help prepare materials for the Board of Directors. This is a highly visible and influential role that reports directly into the Corporate Strategy function of the company. Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects and collaborate with company leaders to identify, assess, prioritize, monitor, and report key strategic, operational, financial and other risks across all business units and corporate functions
  • Provide assurance that enterprise risks are effectively communicated and mitigated within an appropriate time frame to support the Company’s objectives; regularly audit and monitor progress and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Own the annual ERM process of assessing the enterprise risk universe, working with senior leadership to identify top risks and necessary countermeasures, establishing quantitative and qualitative measures, and monitoring and reporting on progress
  • Prepare and deliver concise written reports and presentations on a variety of risk-related subject matter
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s business, units, markets, and operations
  • Establish strong working relationships with executive risk owners and risk liaisons across the business units and functional areas
  • Conduct deep dive explorations on timely risk topics as needed and present cogent, fact supported recommendations on options and necessary actions
  • Stay up to date on ERM best practices to help shape and mature the internal ERM operating model, emphasizing agility and effectiveness and removing unnecessary process
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and other teams to ensure coordination among risk-related functions
  • Build greater awareness and understanding of risk-informed decision making across the enterprise. Elevate the visibility of ERM and its practical application to the business.
  • Perform other special projects as requested

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in risk management in a corporate setting, or a combination of relevant consulting and in-house experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline; Master’s degree a plus
  • Fluency in enterprise risk management best practices, methods, and frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and analyze enterprise risks individually and across a wide array of domains, make concise recommendations, and communicate effectively up, down and across an organization
  • Strong foundational knowledge of business principles across functional disciplines including finance, audit, marketing, sales, R&D, IT, supply chain, HR, and other functions
  • Strategic mindset with excellent critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to see how individual initiatives “fit” within the big picture on a long-term basis
  • Ability to quickly research and understand complex internal and external business risks and synthesize large volumes of information and distill down to the most important points
  • Great interpersonal and collaboration skills; must be able to develop trusted cross-functional partnerships at all levels and be effective in influencing decision-making and actions without direct authority
  • Must be able to maintain impartiality when dealing with complex subject matter that may involve challenging situations; must be comfortable in ambiguous or fluid situations
  • Must be an engaging and effective communicator, both written and verbal. Must possess expert level PowerPoint skills with an ability to synthesize complex information into concise stories and visuals for an executive audience.
  • Motivated self-starter with solid project management capabilities; ability to successfully execute multiple projects and meet deadlines with little supervision
  • A winning attitude with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Highest level of professional integrity and discretion, comfortable working in a high-trust environment with regular exposure to confidential information
  • Experience working in a global enterprise strongly preferred
