The Electronic Systems (ES) Sector's Engineering Training Manager oversees the acquisition, training, development, and retention of over 5,000 engineers to meet the critical needs of our $5B business. This role fosters talent readiness across our US-based sites by providing an ecosystem which builds and supports a highly capable engineering talent pipeline. This requires developing strategies, in close collaboration with Engineering departments, other Engineering training leads, and Human Resources to build the bench in technical, personal effectiveness and leadership in areas of need identified by Engineering leadership. In partnership with the Director of US Defense Engineering Development (ED), this role has responsibilities for developing and executing a strategy that enables Engineering to acquire and retain engineering talent; and to develop engineers via development programs, training curricula, technical resource services, graduate certificate and degree programs, internal collaboration, external partnering, and mentoring and training portals. This role guides a skilled team of experts who provide programs, tools, resources, and networks to support employees' technical abilities, leadership skills, career planning, and personal effectiveness - while encouraging them to invest in the development of others. This role is responsible for guiding and managing a strong foundation of offerings currently administered by Engineering Development, ensuring a well-developed workforce to support ES' missions of "We Protect Those Who Protect Us" and "We Innovate for Those That Move the World." Additionally, the establishment of new programs and services is often necessary to attract, hire, retain, and train engineering talent to support the breadth of programs within Electronic Systems.
This Hybrid position is located in Hudson, NH.
Specific Responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following:
- Work closely with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other team members to ensure learning solutions meet organizational needs and are effectively communicated to employees.
- Design and develop engaging learning programs, including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, and performance support materials.
- Deliver high-quality learning programs, including facilitation of instructor-led training sessions and support for e-learning modules.
- Providing programs, tools, resources, and networks to fill any existing gaps in employees' technical abilities, leadership skills, career planning, and personal effectiveness - while encouraging Engineering people managers to invest in the development of others.
- Partner with colleges/universities to develop and maintain graduate programs customized for BAE-only Cohorts, as well as leveraging programs as-is for non-cohort participation
- Maintaining the relevance of our online training development portals (e.g. College of Engineering) and Functional Training Plan Requirements across Engineering.
- Represent Engineering in regular audits conducted by industry authorities, customers, partners and other entities
- Conduct needs assessments as required to identify learning gaps and recommend solutions that align with organizational objectives.
- Oversight of Engineering existing and new offerings the Learning Management System (LMS), including course administration, compliance reporting, training records, and audit readiness.
- Represent Engineering on the ES Functional Training Working Group and participate on special project teams, e.g. upgrade of our Learning Management System (LMS)
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelors Degree in Education, Business or related field of study, or equivalent years of experience managing a training organization
- Proven ability in course design and execution of training classes.
- Positive attitude, inclusive mindset, passion for teaching, mentoring, coaching, and developing people.
- Excellent communication through public speaking and writing skills with an ability and willingness to comfortably speak in front of large audiences.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of modern employee training and development methodologies and tools, with experience delivering both in-person, virtual and combined approaches.
- Experience or a good awareness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and willingness to create or complement learning solutions using AI
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, employees, and academic and community partners.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) Cornerstone and/or Skillsoft Precipio.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
