Thndr is on a mission to make investing simple and accessible for everyone across the Middle East and North Africa. Since launching in 2019 and going through Y Combinator shortly after, we have grown into Egypt's number one investing app, with millions of people putting their money to work in stocks, gold, mutual funds, and more, many of them investing for the very first time.

We are licensed by Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority and are a member of the Egyptian Exchange. In 2024 we expanded into the UAE under an ADGM license, and in 2025 we became the first remote retail trading member of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. That same year, the World Economic Forum named us a Technology Pioneer, the only Egyptian company alongside Apple, Google, Dropbox, and others. In 2026, The Financial Times named us the fastest growing company in Africa. We are backed by investors including Tiger Global, Prosus Ventures, BECO Capital, and Y Combinator, and we are only getting started.

Today, roughly 40% of all transactions on the Egyptian Exchange flow through Thndr. That happens because of the Trading team, the group responsible for the systems at the very core of our platform.

We are directly connected to the exchanges and to asset managers, and we write and maintain our own OMS and backoffice systems across both Egypt and the UAE, with Saudi Arabia coming next. This is a sensitive system where throughput, latency, and correctness are not nice-to-haves.

This is a one-of-a-kind team in the region, and one we are incredibly proud of. You would be managing a group of superstars and working alongside some of our strongest technical staff on problems that genuinely do not exist anywhere else in the market. You would also work directly with the technical teams and senior leadership at the local regulators and exchanges, partnering with them to deliver the best possible experience to our users.

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers who build and operate our trading platform.

• Own the reliability, throughput, latency, and correctness of systems that execute real trades, in real time, with real money on the line.

• Own the team's roadmap, partner with product and engineering to build the core components their plans depend on, and maintain the technical priorities that keep our core services healthy.

• Partner directly with the technical teams at the exchanges, with asset managers, and with regulators across Egypt and the UAE, and help us bring that same connectivity to Saudi Arabia.

• Maintain and evolve our in-house oms and back-office across markets as we scale into new geographies, and build more advanced trading functionalities.

• Set technical direction alongside our staff engineers, raise the bar on quality and operational excellence, and keep the team unblocked and moving.

• Balance hands-on technical depth with people leadership, staying close enough to the architecture to make good calls while giving the team the room to do their best work.

• A track record of leading engineering teams, growing the people on them, and shipping reliable software in production that is used by large numbers of users.

• A strong technical foundation in distributed systems.

• Comfort being close to the code and the architecture, even if you are not writing it day to day.

• Familiarity with our stack, or the confidence to get there quickly: C#, .NET Core, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, and Python.

• A high bar for correctness and operational discipline. You understand what it means to run a system where a mistake has real consequences for real people.

• A clear, candid communicator who can hold their own with engineers, regulators, and senior leadership alike.

• Experience in fintech, brokerage, trading, or another regulated, high-stakes domain.

• Experience operating hybrid infrastructure. Ours runs on-prem in Egypt and on AWS in the UAE.
