You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

You will join a team developing a state-of-the-art general-purpose robot designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, to walk like humans do, and to dexterously manipulate objects with its hands and upper body. We're looking for highly motivated and talented engineers with hands-on experience and a passion for robotics to join our team.  Specifically, we seek a Senior Engineering Manager with proven experience and capabilities in the management of a highly technical group of engineers to lead our robot chassis design, development and validation team.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for overall robot chassis design, technical data package, and verification testing
  • Oversee a team of Mechanical Design Engineers focused on humanoid development
  • Organize and document best practices and standard processes  
  • Develop and implement new processes 
  • Collaborate with Lead Engineers to staff engineering design efforts and balance workloads  
  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to employees on the team  
  • Assist in building a world-class robotic design team through coaching, hiring, and fostering a culture of Creativity, Humility, Integrity, Passion, and Curiosity   
  • Work together with other teams (Actuation, Electrical, Systems, Software, etc.) to develop state-of-the-art robotic systems

 

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Science Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • At least 5+ years of experience in engineering management
  • At least 10+ years of experience in development of robotic systems or similar (automotive, aerospace, etc.)
  • Mastery of engineering fundamentals / first principles   
  • High proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)    
  • Strong understanding of kinematics, structural design, mechanisms, and electromechanical packaging
  • Exceptional attention to detail  
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration  
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills  
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting deadlines  
  • Strong written and verbal communication  
  • Great team player able to perform within a dynamic start-up environment  
  • Experience with Certification and deploying a product
  • Experience designing for multiple manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, 3D printing, Sheet Metal, Die Casting, Injection Molding, etc.  
  • Experience with GD&T for machined components, tolerance stack up analysis, and DFM/A Analysis 
  • Experience with conducting finite element analysis and reporting results 
  • Experience with revision control systems and design revision processes 
  • Experience with failure analysis/root cause analysis
  • A passion for building things
