You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

We're looking for an experienced Staff Electrical Engineer to drive our integrated electronics strategy in one of the following key areas: power electronics, motor drive, battery and charger development, functional safety, or compliance.  We are primarily interested in candidates who have developed and released products to the market in automotive, medical, personal electronics, enterprise, or robotics spaces. In this job role, you will develop electric systems from ideation to delivery for a variety of robotic platforms and projects.  

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with various engineering teams to conceptualize, specify, and implement electrical architectures for various robotic platforms to include robotic manipulators and humanoid robotic systems 
  • Rapid prototyping of electrical systems at both system and board levels
  • Generate design documentation such as schematics, block diagrams, test plans and procedures, fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Convert prototype designs to custom circuit board specifications. Capture electronics schematics and generate PCB designs for manufacturing
  • Perform board bring-up activities including embedded firmware development and circuit validation
  • Create and execute test plans for intermediate and final products, including test fixture design and software development
  • Drive excellence in EMI/EMC/SI/PI and DFM/DFA
  • Participate in the debugging and root cause analysis related to hardware and software defect resolution
  • Interface with internal and external manufacturing teams to enhance design for test, manufacturing, and assembly
  • Support existing engineering products through debugging and upgrading designs  


Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field  
  • 10+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer 
  • Experience architecting and designing batteries, battery management systems, charger systems, electrochemical simulations
  • Experience with high-performance power electronics, including multiphase converters and isolated power supply topologies
  • Experience with three-phase PMSM motor control, field-oriented control, flux-weakening control, and overmodulation
  • Experience with functional safety design, documentation, processes, and prior experience working with TÜV
  • Experience bringing a product through compliance testing including UL, CSA, FCC, CE, etc.
  • Interest and previous experience mentoring junior team members
  • Competent in CAD tools including Altium, or similar tools
  • Experience with simulation tools (ex: LTSpice, PSpice, Ansys, Simulink)
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Documentation experience - will be expected to develop detailed build assembly instructions and diagrams
  • Exceptional attention to detail and engineering discipline
  • Creative, curious, analytical, and disciplined
  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple deadlines
  • Great team-player able to communicate effectively and perform within an interdisciplinary and dynamic start-up environment

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience designing electronics for lightweight, space-constrained systems
  • Experience implementing embedded systems on robots and troubleshooting hardware
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI accelerators or quantum computing is a plus
