Job Description

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team within our innovative Agentic Commerce Program at zooplus. In this role, you will be instrumental in bringing new, AI-driven features to life for over 9 million customers, while championing modern agile and technical practices.

Reporting to the Domain Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for efficient product delivery, the professional growth of your team members, and shaping a robust technical direction for our products. Working closely with Product Owners and Domain Architects, your leadership will be key to your team's success and our company's goal of delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Your Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Delivery: Contribute to the product vision and strategy, and be accountable for your team's deliverables, ensuring they meet timelines and contribute to company goals.
  • Technical Excellence & Enablement: Empower your team by removing technical impediments, facilitating progress, and promoting architectural best practices to ensure our applications are scalable and resilient.
  • People Growth & Mentorship: Foster a culture of excellence by managing performance, coaching team members, and supporting their individual career development.
  • Agile Process Management: Create a productive, agile environment by aligning with other teams and ensuring our processes support continuous improvement and individual growth.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and optimize costs related to your product, including AWS, licenses, and personnel.

Your Team's Mission

The Agentic Commerce teams are at the forefront of integrating AI into our platform. Key responsibilities include:

  • AI Discoverability: Optimizing our products to be understood and recommended by AI-powered discovery platforms.
  • AI Analytics & Observability: Defining and measuring the impact of AI channels on customer engagement.
  • Conversational AI Experiences: Delivering production-ready conversational assistants on key customer touchpoints.
  • Commerce API Enablement: Building standardized interfaces for external AI agents to interact with our commerce capabilities.
  • Transactional Readiness: Ensuring our checkout and payment flows support emerging AI-driven purchase journeys.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience with strong engineering and design fundamentals.
  • Proven people management and communication skills.
  • A strong background in Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Several years of experience in the e-commerce industry.
  • Extensive experience with software development tools and practices (e.g., Atlassian suite, CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and operations).
  • Experience with AI-powered software development, such as integrating machine learning models or working with large language models (LLMs), is a plus.
