About opportunity:
We are hiring an experienced Investigations Counsel in the Middle East and Africa Hub within Ericsson's Corporate and Government Investigations (CGI) group within Group Function Legal Affairs & Compliance (GFLA). Ericsson's CGI team is responsible for the investigation of potential legal and compliance violations within Ericsson and is a critical support in ensuring the efficiency and credibility of the Company's ethics & compliance program, defending Ericsson's dedication to integrity in its culture and ways of working, building trust with its stakeholders, including enforcement authorities, and ultimately driving the company's sustainable success.
What you will do:
This position can be based in our UK HQ - Reading or our Madrid office with a hybrid (in office 60% and remote) arrangement. In this role, you will:
• Give legal advice in connection with investigations, including complex internal investigations and cross border investigations.• Resolve need for and maintain attorney client privilege; conduct investigations under attorney-client privilege where applicable and using internal resources or external counsel.• Supervise external counsel on investigations and related matters.• Collaborate with colleagues working on investigations by government authorities and with civil litigation related to investigations.• Conduct and lead internal investigations of reported Code of Business Ethics violations in a forensically sound, robust, fair, and timely manner, and in compliance with relevant laws (including employment laws and data privacy laws).• Draft clear written investigation reports and assist others with report drafting.• Advise relevant decision-makers of the status of investigation findings on a timely basis and present summaries of the investigation.• Assist in the development of investigations policies and processes.• Act with integrity, objectivity and fairness and apply sound legal judgment to address gray areas and interpret and apply the law.• Assist in the development of strategies and processes to mitigate compliance risk based on investigation risk areas.• Assist in the reporting to key stakeholders on investigations, including appropriate root cause analysis and lessons learned.• Be comfortable navigating ambiguity and working through uncertainty with confidence and a solutions-oriented mindset.• Be adaptable and agile, with a demonstrated ability to flex your role and responsibilities to meet the evolving needs of the team and business.
Required qualifications:
• A law degree from an accredited university, college or law school • Admission to practice law and good standing with the relevant bar association or legal regulatory authority in the applicable jurisdiction• 7+ years' experience handling complex investigations, litigation, and/or regulatory enforcement matters, preferably interacting with prosecutors and regulators• Experience working directly with and reporting findings to senior stakeholders on significant investigations or legal issues• Experience working in a matrixed environment or with cross-functional teams• Experience independently handling and managing multiple complex matters simultaneously• Fluency in English (oral and written).
Preferred qualifications:
• 10+ years' experience is a plus.• Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a global law firm advising multi-national businesses.• E-discovery experience alongside the use of document review platforms such as Relativity and the use of associated AI tools.• Compliance experience.
