About the Role
As Employee Relations Manager, you will be a trusted partner to the business on everything that shapes a fair, compliant, and constructive working environment. You will own our relationship with Works Councils, guide managers through sensitive cases, and translate complex German labour law into clear, practical decisions. Joining the People team at a moment of growth and change, you will work alongside HR colleagues, legal counsel, and global cross-functional teams to deliver business change smoothly while protecting the employee experience.
Job requirements
  • Solid experience in employee relations, labour law, or HR business partnering, ideally in a scaling environment
  • Strong working knowledge of German labour law and Works Council frameworks including BetrVG, KSchG, AGG, ArbZG, and collective agreement frameworks (Tarifverträge)
  • Proven track record of managing grievances, disciplinary cases, and investigations to fair, consistent, and legally sound outcomes
  • Experience partnering with German Works Councils 
  • Confident stakeholder management across HR, legal, and business teams, with sound judgement on sensitive topics
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to drive multiple workstreams simultaneously, meet deadlines, and keep stakeholders aligned throughout
  • Business fluent German (C1) and English
Nice to have
  • Experience consulting and managing outside counsel within a governance framework

Job responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee Works Council activities, ensuring business changes run smoothly
  • Act as subject matter expert on labour law, advising managers and HR on practical, compliant decisions
  • Manage critical grievance, disciplinary, and investigation cases, serving as the primary point of escalation
  • Develop and implement employee relations policies and procedures, supporting a standardised employment conditions framework
  • Identify critical Works Council topics and shape targeted communication strategies, in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Implement and maintain the Employee Relations strategy and governance manage outside counsel

  • Works Council relationships are constructive and business changes are delivered on time with agreements in place
  • Grievance, disciplinary, and investigation cases are handled consistently, fairly, and within legal requirements
  • Employee relations policies are simplified, compliant with local law, and aligned to the global framework

Skills Required
