As a VP, Strategic Account Executive, you will be responsible for providing complete service and benefit management of True Group clients (>100 lives).  This includes serving as a liaison between the client, the firm and the carriers.  This role demands a consultative and collaborative approach, working closely with the Employee Benefits Practice Leader, Sales Leader, and Operations Leader to foster a positive and supportive culture that rewards high performance, celebrates achievements, and promotes a creative learning environment aligned with HUB's values.

Your job responsibilities as a VP, Strategic Account Executive:

  • Serves as primary relationship manager for a portfolio of complex True Group clients (>100 lives), ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
  • Provides strategic consulting to clients on benefit plan design, funding strategies, carrier negotiations, compliance, and overall program management.
  • Leads mid-year, quarterly, and annual client meetings to review plan performance, claims experience, and renewal strategy; develops and presents renewal and bid reports using professional consultative techniques.
  • Negotiates on behalf of clients for optimal pricing and contract terms with carriers; evaluates and negotiates commission structures as appropriate.
  • Develops and executes employee communication strategies in partnership with the Account Manager, including preparation and delivery of benefit materials, meetings, and webinars.
  • Ensures overall coordination of plan changes and due diligence so that no insured individual loses coverage during transitions or renewals.
  • Serves as a knowledgeable point of contact for client and carrier inquiries related to compliance, legislative updates, claims, plan provisions, and procedural matters.
  • Reviews and approves plan documents (master policy, SPD, ASA, etc.) for accuracy and completeness; provides carrier direction as needed.
  • Coordinates ERISA and other legislative compliance requirements; works with analysts on Form 5500 filings and client guidance.
  • Identifies and pursues cross-selling opportunities with other HUB specialties, including P&C, Retirement, and Personal Lines.
  • Maximizes existing client relationships to identify expansion opportunities and strengthen retention.
  • Supports Great Plains EB Producers during the sales process by providing technical expertise and consultative insight as needed.
  • Provides informal guidance and mentorship to Associate SAEs, Account Managers, and Financial Analysts supporting assigned client accounts.
  • Assists with the training and professional development of junior team members as needed.
  • Collaborates with EB leadership and peers to support a high-performance, client-focused team culture that reflects HUB’s values.
  • Assists in client retention efforts across other Great Plains EB teams as needed.
  • Cultivates and maintains strong working relationships with assigned carriers and vendors, with a focus on driving positive client outcomes related to cost, contracts, and service.
  • Stays current on changes in the insurance industry, carrier landscape, and relevant legislation; communicates updates and recommendations to clients and team members.
  • Provides analytical and reporting support across the client portfolio, including renewal analysis, claims experience, mid-year planning, stewardship, and utilization reporting.
  • Assists with creation of custom reports and complex data analysis to respond to client inquiries, including plan cost variances, plan change analysis, and claim projections.
  • Assists with preparation and review of renewal information, bid specifications, carrier proposals, and commission schedules.
  • Creates an atmosphere of high morale, ethics, and professionalism; maintains confidentiality of client and firm information.
  • Participates in professional or civic organizations as requested; cultivates an ethical and reputable presence in the community.
  • Responds to requests for information, reports, or research from other departments or firm management.
  • Travels on company business as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in benefits brokerage, insurance or employee benefits customer service, account administration, or a related field preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of minimum qualifications
  • State life and health insurance license, or ability to obtain, required
  • Professional designation through CEBS or HIA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits and the group insurance industry, including underwriting principles, carrier processes, and benefit funding strategies
  • Proven experience managing complex client relationships and delivering strategic benefit solutions in a consultative or client-facing environment
  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing principles in the context of benefits consulting or brokerage
  • Ability to interpret and apply benefit-related regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA) and stay current with industry trends and legislative updates
  • Demonstrated success leading client meetings, delivering benefit presentations, and influencing strategic decisions across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proficiency with data analysis related to premiums, claims, and plan performance; comfort with applying basic algebra and interpreting financial metrics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex benefit information clearly and persuasively.
  • Highly collaborative team player with a strong sense of accountability, adaptability, and customer service orientation
  • Strong technology skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to new tools and leverage technology for productivity and client engagement
