The VAT Manager is responsible for partnering with business and finance leaders across the region, ensuring robust indirect tax compliance while supporting strategic growth initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing VAT risks, driving process improvements, and providing expert tax guidance in a complex, multinational environment. This position offers broad exposure across multiple jurisdictions and the opportunity to influence tax governance, operational excellence, and business decision-making throughout EMEA.
This position reports to the Vice President, Energy+ & Group Finance Officer, EMEA and is part of the EMEA Finance team located in Poland and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Oversee VAT compliance, filings, and reporting across the EMEA region.
Ensure accurate VAT treatment of transactions and provide technical guidance to finance and business teams.
Monitor changes in VAT legislation and assess business impacts while driving continuous improvement in VAT compliance, automation, and governance.
Manage VAT audits, tax authority inquiries, and compliance reviews as well as collaborate with external advisors and internal stakeholders to optimize VAT processes
Identify tax risks and implement appropriate controls and process improvements.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's degree or alternative relevant business qualifications (eg Chartered Tax Adviser, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) or relevant experience / qualification with Tax Authorities.
Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in EMEA VAT compliance, either in industry or with other service providers.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (with strong emphasis on Excel); Power-BI and good working knowledge of SAP an advantage
Organized, analytical and methodical with strong attention to detail.
Good communication skills with the ability to fluently read and write English. Able to explain complex VAT requirements in a non-technical manner to non-Finance associates and the ability to work well in a team.
