Overview

We are looking for a Electrical Engineering Project Manager for Air Gapped Cloud (AGC). You will be responsible for managing the execution of secure, mission-critical data center construction projects supporting highly regulated and national security workloads.

This role serves as the primary owner for construction delivery at the project level, ensuring predictable execution across scope, schedule, cost, quality, and compliance from pre-construction through commissioning and handover.

The Electrical Engineer Project Manager works closely with cross-functional teams and delivery partners to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes in complex, highly controlled environments.

Responsibilities

Electrical Focus: This role will be dedicated and focused specifically on the electrical elements of the project to ensure high quality installation as it relates to the following bullet points below:

  • Project & Cost Controls: Monitors approved project budgets and oversees project controls (PERs, PSRs, change orders, pay apps), identifying risks and recommending adjustments to maintain financial discipline.  
  • Program Delivery & Results: Facilitates delivery of campus based construction projects through timely, data driven decision-making in partnership with local teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment to Safety, Security, Quality, Schedule, and Cost priorities.  
  • Cross Functional Collaboration & Change Enablement: Partners with CO+I and key Microsoft stakeholders to drive adoption of updated processes, improving cost savings, cycle time, and operational efficiency across programs.  
  • Technical & Construction Oversight: Reviews engineering documentation, designs, and site plans; identifies gaps and risks; and provides recommendations that improve constructability while adhering to security core priorities and standards.  
  • Risk, Safety & Regulatory Leadership: Represents Microsoft as a safety advocate by establishing risk mitigation metrics, supporting national safety goals, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA), conducting audits, and contributing to incident investigations.  
  • Resource, Procurement & Vendor Management: Oversees procurement and resourcing activities, evaluates staffing and material needs, and monitors vendor performance for compliance, financial accuracy, and contractual obligations.  
  • Project Tracking & Executive Reporting: Assists in tracking and reporting project progress across scope, schedule, standards, and budget, synthesizing complex data into clear updates for delivery and executive audiences.  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience. 

Other Requirements

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Ability and Willingness to acquire and maintain a US Government Clearance
  • Experience managing contractors, construction schedules, and execution plans.
  • Working knowledge of construction sequencing, safety requirements, and quality management practices.
  • 7+ years experience working on data center projects.
  • Familiarity with ICD 705/Tempest
  • PMI (Project Management Institute) - PMP (Project Management Professional) certification highly desired

Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
