The Role

You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

JOB SUMMARY

We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer with expertise in PCB layout, schematic design, debugging, wire harness design, and basic firmware development. Experience in power electronics, robotics, motor drives, or batteries is a plus. Strong root cause analysis skills and a practical problem-solving mindset are essential for success in this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Schematic Design & PCB Layout: Design and develop clear, effective schematics and create manufacturable PCB layouts that meet electrical, thermal, and mechanical specifications.
  • Wire Harness Design: Develop wire harnesses, ensuring proper selection and routing of cables, connectors, and terminations for various systems.
  • Debugging & Root Cause Analysis: Perform thorough debugging and root cause analysis of hardware issues in analog, digital circuits, and wire harnesses. Use tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to diagnose faults and implement solutions.
  • Firmware Support: Assist with basic embedded firmware development and hardware/software integration (C/C++ knowledge preferred, Python also considered).
  • Testing & Validation: Perform system testing and validation to ensure all designs, including wire harnesses, meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, wire harness diagrams, and test reports.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Power Electronics: Experience with power management systems, voltage regulation, and DC-DC conversion.
  • Robotics/Motor Drives: Knowledge of motor control systems and robotic applications.
  • Batteries: Familiarity with battery management and charging systems.
  • Tools: Proficiency with PCB design software (e.g., Altium, Eagle), wire harness design tools, and debugging tools.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in  Electrical Engineering or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in schematic design, PCB layout, wire harness design, debugging, and basic firmware development, preferably in the robotics industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • Hearing and speech to communicate
