ROLE SUMMARY:

The role involves maintaining and improving the facility's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs by ensuring compliance with Wyoming and Federal regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing environmental permits, safety training, and implementation of various environmental programs like SPCC and SWPPP. The role also entails managing waste reduction initiatives, conducting safety inspections and accident investigations, and supervising utility workers. Additionally, the EHS Manager is responsible for leading continuous improvement processes and ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations for outgoing shipments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions):

  • Maintain a working knowledge of Wyoming and Federal environmental and safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain and improve the environmental, health and safety programs for the facility.
  • Ensure that all environmental permits are maintained and related reporting requirements are completed.
  • Oversee the implementation of the SPCC, SWPPP, air and groundwater monitoring environmental programs, etc. and assure their related reporting, monitoring, and tracking requirements are completed.
  • Oversee the site’s recycling and waste reduction programs.
  • Ensure required and appropriate environmental and safety training is completed, relevant to the work environment, including for new employees, contractors, and temporary workers.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective safety committees.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely reporting of labor hours and injury/illness information.
  • Oversee the coordination of Right to Know information for all employees.
  • Recommend and evaluate implemented corrective actions to eliminate risk and hazardous conditions; then monitors the effectiveness of such actions and procedures for correcting hazardous conditions and work practices.
  • Work with department supervision to conduct accident investigations in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Assist the Human Resources department on Workers’ Compensation claims management under the State of WY Workers Compensation program.
  • Conduct and train others to conduct frequent plant safety inspections and ensures corrective actions are determined for each non-conformance.
  • Observe and train supervisors to observe workers for safe and unsafe behaviors. Track, monitor, and trend observation and behavior data for further improvements.
  • Coordinate the management of the business continuity program, ensuring timely reviews and updates are accomplished, and drills/scenarios are conducted on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for supervising the Utility Supervisor who supervises and schedules up to 25 Utility Workers and 25-30 temporary workers. The EHS Manager is responsible for filling-in for the Utility Supervisor and supervising the Utility crew when the Utility Supervisor is away from the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, as needed with outgoing shipments of final product.
  • Lead the plant’s Lean/Continuous Improvement internal processes to ensure compliance with corporate standards.  Through supervision of the Lean/Continuous Improvement Engineer, monitor results and trending, implementing course corrections as needed.
  • Other job duties as required by Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering, Health & Safety, or related course of study. Or a bachelor’s degree with EHS experience will be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience

PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in developing management systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel).

REQUIRED TRAINING:

  • OSHA Safety Training

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to work and be comfortable in an industrial environment and chemical processing facility.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment.
