  • We hire great people that fit our culture and have an old-school work ethic.
  • We make great products and provide our customers with an unreal experience.
  • We create great processes that enable us to set goals and track our success.

The UNRL team consists of a small, tight-knit group of hardworking people with an entrepreneurial mindset. We are building a brand that will stand the test of time and continue to make a positive impact in our communities.

Job Overview

This role partners with the B2B and D2C site owners to build out and improve our Shopify storefronts, contribute to custom Shopify apps, and grow into new sales channels. It spans the storefront experience and the application layer behind it, with the storefronts as the primary focus. The role sits on UNRL's Tech Team and works closely with the Sales Team and Ecommerce Team.

The ideal candidate is a developer first, with professional experience shipping production Shopify work, and a knowledgeable AI user who harnesses LLM-assisted development to move more efficiently. They understand what the tools recommend while being able to catch what is wrong, weak, or unnecessary.

Responsibilities
  • Use AI-powered development tools to move faster, and validate AI-generated work with professional judgment before anything ships.
  • Partner with the B2B and D2C site owners to improve UNRL's Shopify storefronts, including product pages, collections, cart, customer accounts, search, and product discovery.
  • Build and refine the B2B experience, including layout, navigation, and customer utility that makes ordering easier for wholesale accounts.
  • Implement design changes and storefront improvements on the D2C site, working with design and agency partners.
  • Partner on custom Shopify apps and internal tools, including tools our sales team uses every day, and support expansion into new sales channels.
  • Implement and maintain third-party apps and integrations with our ERP, CRM, and fulfillment systems.
  • Improve site speed, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility, and work down technical debt.
  • Own assigned features from requirements through release, troubleshoot production issues, make architectural recommendations, document your work, and bring outside best practices to UNRL.
What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means delivering high-performing ecommerce experiences that are user-friendly, technically sound, and scalable. This individual drives continuous improvement across UNRL's B2B and D2C Shopify storefronts, balancing technical expertise, innovation, and business needs to enhance the customer experience and support long-term growth.

A successful Ecommerce Developer will:

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve efficiency while maintaining strong technical judgment and code quality.
  • Deliver seamless, high-performing B2B and D2C Shopify storefronts that enhance the customer experience and drive growth.
  • Improve site functionality, navigation, product discovery, checkout, and overall usability.
  • Build and maintain reliable Shopify applications, integrations, and internal tools that support business operations and new sales channels.
  • Create alignment between Technology, Sales, Ecommerce, and external partners to execute development priorities effectively.
  • Optimize site speed, mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and technical performance while reducing technical debt.
  • Take ownership of development projects from requirements through testing, implementation, and release, ensuring quality and reliability.
  • Proactively solve technical challenges and recommend scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency and support UNRL's long-term success.

Requirements
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years of Shopify development.
  • Hands-on Shopify development, including themes, Online Store 2.0, metafields and metaobjects, and the Admin and Storefront APIs, plus experience building or extending Shopify apps and integrations.
  • Solid working knowledge of Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, enough to read, review, and correct AI-generated code.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, webhooks, and how data moves between ecommerce and back-office systems.
  • Experience with version control, code reviews, debugging, and safe production releases, plus working knowledge of site performance, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools, with a track record of using them to increase speed and output on real projects, and the judgment to evaluate what they recommend and make your own decisions rather than accepting output as is.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to make sound architectural recommendations and work independently with limited oversight.
  • Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex, and modern deployment tooling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • React or other modern front-end frameworks, or serverless and custom backend integrations.
  • Experience integrating with ERP, CRM, EDI, or wholesale and marketplace platforms.
  • Experience with analytics, tag management, and privacy and consent handling on storefronts.
  • Experience in apparel, fashion, or lifestyle brands, ideally with both D2C and wholesale.
