The Disaster Recovery Specialist Mid supports SEC ISS contract continuity and resilience objectives by maintaining and executing IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) and Business Continuity activities across enterprise systems. This role coordinates business resumption and disaster recovery planning across enterprise platforms to sustain operational readiness. The specialist leads readiness efforts through structured simulations and continuous updates to plans, policies, standards, and training. The position also supports contingency response activities and manages Emergency Notification System (ENS) operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Disaster Recovery and Continuity Planning
Perform day-to-day activities required to maintain business continuity across software, data systems, and data networks.
Oversee and review testing and implementation activities to ensure the integrity and security of all electronic data and data systems are adequately protected.
Facilitate preparation and maintenance of the organization-wide business resumption plan.
Assist in the coordination and establishment of disaster recovery programs and business resumption planning across enterprise platforms.
Testing, Simulation, and Readiness
Coordinate and monitor simulation testing across all platforms.
Oversee disaster recovery testing activities to confirm operational readiness and continuity execution.
Document exercise outcomes, identify gaps, and track corrective actions through closure.
Provide readiness status reporting during exercises and real-world contingency events.
Program Governance and Quality Assurance
Design and administer disaster recovery programs, including policies, standards, guidelines, and training programs.
Maintain a viable quality assurance process for disaster recovery deliverables and operational procedures.
Ensure continuity and recovery documentation remains current and auditable.
Drive continuous improvement using lessons learned from tests and contingency events.
Coordination and Emergency Communications
Manage the Agency Emergency Notification System (ENS), including operational readiness and notification workflows.
Serve as a coordination point among infrastructure, operations, and business stakeholders during planning and execution.
Facilitate communications and status reporting during exercises and contingency events.
Support coordinated response activities to maintain continuity objectives across enterprise platforms.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
This position is restricted to U.S. citizens only. Applicants must not hold dual citizenship with any other country to be eligible for work under this contract.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering). In lieu of degree, additional experience may be required.
Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust.
Must have at least 2+ years of related IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) and Business Continuity experience.
Demonstrated experience with DR testing, policy and plan development, and facilitation.
Experience coordinating recovery planning and execution across enterprise software, data systems, and networks.

Experience aligning recovery planning and operations with FISMA and federal audit expectations.
Strong facilitation and stakeholder communication skills for crisis response and after-action improvement.
