The Training Manager is a key member of the Operations Services team, responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating training programs that build workforce capability and drive operational excellence. This role partners closely with department leaders to identify skill gaps, develop targeted learning solutions, and ensure all team members are equipped to perform at the highest level. The Training Manager plays a critical role in onboarding new employees, upskilling existing staff, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This role also owns internal communications and training activation, ensuring all programs are effectively promoted and launched across the organization.
What You’ll Do
Training Program Design & Delivery
- Develop and maintain comprehensive training curricula for all operational roles, including onboarding, role-specific technical training, and leadership development programs.
- Design and deliver instructor-led, e-learning, and blended learning solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Create training materials including manuals, job aids, presentations, quick-reference guides, and e-learning modules.
- Facilitate engaging training sessions for diverse audiences across all levels of the organization.
Needs Assessment & Performance Consulting
- Partner with operations leaders and HR to conduct training needs analyses and identify skill gaps across departments.
- Translate operational challenges and business goals into targeted learning interventions.
- Provide consultative support to managers on performance improvement and team development strategies.
Program Management & Administration
- Manage end-to-end training project timelines, resources, and vendor relationships.
- Maintain accurate training records, completion tracking, and certification documentation in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and communications for training events and workshops.
- Manage training budget allocations and report on expenditures.
Internal Communications & Training Activation
- Develop and execute internal communication plans to promote, launch, and sustain training programs across Operations Services.
- Create compelling training announcements, newsletters, and campaign materials that drive awareness and participation in learning initiatives.
- Manage end-to-end activation of training campaigns including messaging timelines, channel selection (email, intranet, digital signage, team meetings), and audience targeting.
- Partner with operations leaders and HR to ensure consistent, clear communication of training requirements, deadlines, and expectations to all staff.
- Develop and maintain a training communications calendar to coordinate launches, reminders, and follow-up messaging across departments.
- Create post-training communications to reinforce key learning, celebrate completions, and share program outcomes with stakeholders.
- Leverage internal platforms (SharePoint, Teams, company intranet, newsletters) to maximize reach and engagement for training initiatives.
- Track and report on communication effectiveness and training campaign engagement metrics; use insights to continuously improve activation strategies.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze training data and metrics to identify trends, report on ROI, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Continuously update and improve training programs based on feedback, operational changes, and industry best practices.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all training programs comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance training requirements and update programs accordingly.
- Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to support audit readiness and corrective action training initiatives.
What You Bring
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in training & development, with at least 5 years in an operations or service environment. Training in a food (packaged or service) environment is a huge plus.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering multi-format training programs (ILT, vILT, e-learning, job aids).
- Strong instructional design skills with proficiency in adult learning principles (ADDIE, SAM, or similar methodologies).
- Excellent facilitation, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to develop internal communications including announcements, newsletters, and training campaign materials.
- Experience managing multi-channel communication campaigns with measurable engagement outcomes.
- Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret data and translate into actionable insights.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams); experience with SharePoint or similar platforms a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility across all levels of the organization.
- Experience managing an LMS and reporting on training metrics.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree or professional certifications (ATD CPTD, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of direct training and development experience required
- Five plus years supervisory or people management experience required
