If you are a professional looking for an opportunity to work with the global Emerson Systems and Software organization, this is a stimulating opportunity for you! As the Director of Technology, you will guide the development and delivery of Guardian software and solutions that help customers optimize their software and distributed control system environments across industries such as chemicals, life sciences, and energy. You will provide leadership for software engineering, quality assurance, development operations, and deployment teams while driving technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, and organizational effectiveness. Working with global teams and stakeholders, you will help shape the technology vision, strategy, and roadmap that enables the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.

 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Lead software engineering, quality assurance, development operations, and deployment teams while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusion, and dependable delivery.

  • Guide Agile Release Trains and multidisciplinary teams responsible for developing and delivering Guardian software and solutions.

  • Help define and execute the technical vision, strategy, architecture, and product roadmap aligned with business objectives.

  • Drive organizational effectiveness by enhancing processes, strengthening team capabilities, and implementing scalable automation practices.

  • Establish clear priorities, objectives, and success measures while supporting engineering leaders and Agile Release Train leadership.

  • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and professional growth throughout the organization.

  • Partner with leaders, teams, and stakeholders across functions and locations to improve coordination, performance, and customer outcomes.

  • Champion continuous improvement by introducing practical and scalable approaches to software development and delivery.

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, development methodologies, and industry trends related to software, firmware, cloud, and industrial automation.

  • Strengthen software quality, cybersecurity, compliance, and operational resilience throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Create an environment where diverse perspectives are welcomed and team members are empowered to contribute ideas, challenge assumptions, and solve complex challenges.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in software, firmware, or technology engineering organizations and delivering complex products or solutions at scale.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience of 7 years or more leading multiple development teams within software, cloud, hardware, industrial technology, or related environments.

  • Knowledge of technologies, tools, and processes used to develop, test, deploy, secure, and maintain software systems.

  • Experience defining technical direction and translating customer, market, or business needs into actionable technology strategies and roadmaps.

  • Proven ability to build capable teams, develop talent, establish clear expectations, and drive organizational effectiveness.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Experience working with Agile software development approaches such as Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or similar methodologies.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures, geographies, and time zones.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience applying the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar approaches to coordinate software delivery across multiple teams and programs.

  • Knowledge of software architecture, embedded firmware development, development operations, and continuous integration/continuous delivery practices.

  • Experience with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, or edge technologies.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity, data protection, risk management, and compliance requirements for cloud-based or industrial software solutions.

  • Experience developing products or solutions within industrial automation, distributed control systems, or similar technology domains.

  • Experience improving engineering productivity, software quality, deployment reliability, or customer value through process optimization and automation initiatives.
