About the Role
The Director Product Manager will typically own a product or multiple product features within a complex product and lead product domain strategy and program execution. In addition, individuals in this role will represent product domain(s) to peers, managers and executives across company and to external audiences. They will also manage people, with responsibility for their recruitment and development, and informally lead cross-functional team members instilling a focus on the delivery of commercially successful products.
Responsibilities
Strategic Product System Development and Management: Lead the development of the company's 3-5 year mid-to-long-term product strategy and business development plan. Align with industry trends, market demands, and competitive landscapes to define strategic objectives and implementation pathways. Drive the decomposition of strategy into actionable quarterly OKRs, facilitate cross-departmental collaboration, and track implementation progress. Develop resource allocation plans to ensure alignment between strategy and execution capabilities. Conduct regular strategic progress reviews and propose dynamic adjustment plans.
Industry Research and Competitive Analysis: Track insurance industry developments, conduct in-depth research on market trends, policies, regulations, competitive landscapes, and technological innovations in auto insurance and other insurance segments to identify business opportunities. Evaluate potential market opportunities and risks in expandable areas, uncover core user needs and pain points, and provide data-driven insights for product innovation and strategic adjustments. Monitor the impact of regulatory policies and technological applications on business operations, promptly proposing countermeasures. Draw insights from domestic and international innovation cases to refine replicable business models.
Team Management and Capability Building: Establish and lead the product team, defining member roles and development paths; organize professional training and knowledge sharing to enhance the team's strategic thinking, product design, and project execution capabilities.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration and Goal Alignment: Serve as the core product liaison, coordinating R&D, marketing, sales, and operations to ensure business line objectives align with company-wide strategy; drive cross-departmental project implementation and resolve critical collaboration challenges.
Requirements
Education and Major: Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Economics, Finance, MBA, Insurance, Marketing, or related fields.
Work Experience: Minimum 10 years of insurance industry experience with strategic thinking capabilities, including at least 5 years leading strategic design or business growth initiatives (e.g., Head of Strategic Product at an insurance company, Product Director at an internet insurance platform).
Demonstrated 5+ years of successful product planning, design, and post-launch management experience; capable of developing comprehensive product philosophies and methodologies. Proven track record of building product ecosystems from scratch or driving strategic implementation, with adaptability to resource-constrained environments typical of small-to-medium enterprises (e.g., leading end-to-end execution of innovative insurance products from market research to premium scale).
Personal Qualities: Strong resilience under pressure, sharp business acumen, and innovative mindset. Demonstrated innovation and teamwork spirit, with exceptional communication and coordination skills.
