Director of Operations, Mission Control
This position is ideally Hybrid / Onsite at Shift4 Headquarters in Center Valley, PA. Relocation assistance may be provided. Will also consider remote-based work with the first 2 to 3 months onsite in order to build out the Mission Control Center in Center Valley, PA.
Mission Control. Like the name suggests, this system will be akin to the control rooms of the Space Shuttle and Apollo programs, where holistic company wide information is flowed from external systems across the business to a single, unified location. Subject matter experts will be able to analyze and action on data directly, allowing for fast response and creation of automation that can then identify and prevent similar issues in the future.
As Director of Operations, Mission Control, you will help build and lead the team responsible for the people oriented processes within this new organization. You will own the roadmap and creation of the operational vision of this system, including processes, documentation and standard operating procedures. You are a passionate, people first leader with deep understanding and experience in operational process development. You will join a group of highly motivated digital transformation professionals seeking to adhere to one of Shift4’s core values - “Take out the parts”, and simplify corporate operations.
Responsibilities:
- Own the roadmap, technical documentation, and implementation of workflows and standard operating procedures that occur within this new Mission Control System, including communicating and achieving buyoff from Shift4 Executives and accountable system owners. Report directly to the VP, Enterprise Systems to bring this vision to life.
- Design and implement communication methods, escalation strategies, quality assurance protocols, and response plans to ongoing business and technical issues that Mission Control will identify.
- Lead Mission Control engineers to ensure technical architectures and people oriented processes are aligned and systemically interwoven.
- Build and manage a tactical team of operations engineers, technical writers, and systems engineers.
- Identify, architect and implement new Mission Control functionalities with support from Mission Control engineering teams.
- Expand the vision, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the functionalities of the system are aligned with company objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of full cycle technical team management, with previous experience in an operational and workflow oriented role, preferably in leadership. Examples include Director of Operations, Director of Manufacturing, or Director Engineering..
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, etc).
- Experience operating in one of the following roles within an Aerospace Mission Control Center - Launch Director, Launch Conductor, Vehicle Controller, Ground Controller, or Chief Engineer.
- Highly competent communication skills, both written and verbal. You excel in distilling information from dense technical systems into concise and clear documentation, and have experience communicating those consolidations to an executive audience.
- Personal experience leading technical projects, including conception, development, and implementation.
- Experience interacting with complex data systems such as LabVIEW, Tableau, or other graphical user interfaces.
Desired Qualifications:
- Masters degree in a relevant technical field
- Personal experience building and leading a team utilizing operational software systems, including Epsilon3, First Resonance ION, or a wholesale ERP such as SAP.
- Experience with real time, time series data and creation of workflows around data indicators.
- Experience with operational fundamentals such as corrective action reporting, non-conformances, inventory management, and data governance.
- Python, pyspark, or other programmatic skills highly desired
- Experience with one of the following platforms: Palantir Foundry, Mulesoft
