Job Description:
Purpose of Job: Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by providing strategic nursing leadership, system‑wide clinical oversight, and collaborative operational support that elevate the role, effectiveness, and impact of CHAS Health’s nursing services as follows:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for development and oversight of nursing services including but not limited to developing and refining the role of registered nurses, oversight of nurse clinical education, assessment of physical nursing skills, and reinforcing policies, procedures, standing orders and guidelines.
- Provides clinical supervision and support to all clinic-based nurses, including: Care Team, Urgent Care, Mobile Medicine, Street Medicine, First Steps, CBHC, and CHIV nurses.
- Optimizes the registered nurse role, develops, and tracks performance metrics to increase patient access and improve quality of care.
- Maintains awareness of population health trends, recommends clinical strategies to address these trends, and implements nursing practices to improve population health.
- In conjunction with leadership, develops, maintains, and communicates policies and procedures related to the RN role.
- Designs, implements, and maintains workflows and quality improvement efforts to improve population health measures.
- Assists in creating collaborative relationships with community partners to address patient needs at CHAS Health and within the larger community.
- Provides peer review process input to Quality Improvement department and performs clinical reviews for nursing staff.
- Supports and contributes to implementation of infection control policies and procedures.
- Supports system wide immunizations efforts.
- Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Operations to provide procedural guidance and support for the MA function.
- Performs other duties assigned, including supporting the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Minimum Bachelor of Science in nursing degree required. Valid RN license in the state of Washington or Idaho required upon hire, with active licensure in both states required within 90 days of hire. Nursing experience, preferably within a community health setting required. Experience with case management preferred. Experience with electronic health records preferred.
Skills: Excellent customer service, oral and written communications skills required. Compassion for patients required. Must be able to work well in team environment. Ability to multi-task in fast-paced work environment, with ability to anticipate future needs required. Computer skills required. BLS (CPR/AED) required. Valid driver’s license and insurance required. Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment is required.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to move around the facility between one-third and two-thirds of the day, as well as sit at a workstation and in patient rooms. Using hands occurs over two-thirds of the day, while reaching with arms occurs less than one-third of the day. Communicating is also required over two-thirds of the day, while climbing, stooping, or crawling is minimal. Lifting up to 10 lbs. occurs about half the time, while up to and above 25 lbs. occurs only occasionally.The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
