Abrazo West Campus is seeking an accomplished RN Emergency Services leader who is ready to make a meaningful impact across one of the West Valley’s busiest Level I Trauma Centers. Located in one of the fastest-growing communities in the country, Abrazo West Campus is a 240-bed Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and Pediatric Preparedness accredited hospital. Our Emergency Services include a 40-bed Emergency Department in Goodyear and a 14-bed freestanding Emergency Department in Buckeye, serving more than 77,000 patients annually with volumes continuing to grow.

As Director of Emergency Services, you’ll partner directly with executive leadership and physician leaders to elevate quality, strengthen culture, improve operational performance, develop future leaders, and position Emergency Services for continued growth.

Responsibilities
  • FINANCE 
    • Responsible for Budget preparation and adherence based on volume 
      Responsible for Supply Chain Management for Department needs 
      Monitor productivity/cost per unit of service on a regular basis to meet established budgetary guidelines. -As necessary establish and implement action plans when variances occur 
      Plans work assignments and resource allocation with full consideration of timeliness and financial impact
      GROWTH 
      Support organization strategies to increase volumes
      Mentors and develops staff 
  • PEOPLE 
     
    • Complete timely 30 day stay interviews and 90 days and annual evaluations 
    • Hires, terminates, trains, evaluates performance and supervises staff to provide professional, courteous and timely services 
    • Review turnover trends and develop action plans to address unanticipated variances 
    • Promotes employee engagement thru staff participation in department operations and activities as measured thru employee engagement tools 
    • Appropriately manages staff to ensure compliance with applicable standards, adheres to organization's policies and procedures, including standards of behavior and safety guidelines 
    • Enhances communication between various levels of staff, departments and customers to promote a caring and respectful work environment 
    • Provides direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner and ensures follow-through
    • Cultivates and promotes staff expertise and knowledge relevant to the needs of the specific environment. Assists with the formation, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, and competencies 
    • Performs the necessary edits for Kronos time management system and payroll 
    • Develops, reviews and updates policies and procedures, standards of care relevant to the department 
  • QUALITY
     
    • Maintains and monitors JCAHO and other regulatory requirements 
    • Gathers and reports quality indicators generated by department activity 
    • Support organization strategies to meet core measure goals 
    • Develops and implements action plans to improve patient experience 
  • SERVICE 
    • Engage physicians to promote physician's relations as measured by physician satisfaction survey
    • Assists and/or promotes positive patient experience thru various stages of care as measured by patient satisfaction survey 
    • Develops and implements actions plans to improve the overall patient satisfaction scores 
    • Promotes excellence in patient experience 
    • Interacts effectively and efficiently with management and staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner 
    • Assures proper function, maintenance and repair of all instrumentation and equipment, including repair records, service contracts, and preventive maintenance schedules 
    • Serves as hospital representative on medical staff committees.
  • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Specials Skills: Must be able to utilize independent decision-making skills in a wide variety of situations. Requires a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities. Personal computer skills required. Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers. Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines. Computer skills required.
  • Minimum Requirements: 
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements..
    • Experience: Five years experience in nursing management in a hospital setting with three years supervisory experience required.
    • Licensure/Certification: Current Arizona Registered Nurse License.
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Education: MSN

Abrazo West Campus is recognized for providing exceptional, comprehensive care to patients in West Valley communities. The 200-bed acute care hospital offers advanced services, including the da Vinci Xi surgical platform, Level I Trauma Center, Loop-X system, orthopedics, obstetrics and cardiovascular care.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Training in wound care and hyperbaric therapy from a nationally recognized provider
  • Five years' nursing management experience in a hospital setting with three years supervisory experience
  • Current Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience editing/using Kronos time management and payroll system
  • Personal computer skills and ability to exercise independent decision-making, accuracy, and strong communication
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • WOCN certification for wound care
