The Role

The Director of Manufacturing will manage and direct all production and lead the materials and maintenance teams that support production in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Responsible for operational short and long-range plans, monthly forecasts, annual operating plans, capital expenditures, cost improvement programs, production plans, manpower planning, supervisory development, employee safety and the overall cost of quality for the operation. Has direct and functional responsibility for strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategies that effect improvements, efficiencies and/or deficiencies. Ensures each business unit’s compliance with all Xylem policies and local, state and federal regulations.

What You'll Do:

  • Plan, direct and control all manufacturing activities at the site so that products are manufactured on schedule
  • Prioritize production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply.
  • Select and develop team to ensure the efficient operation of the production functions.  Develops schedules and staffing requirements for assigned areas.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus.
  • Build a strong culture to support continuous improvement behavior and a problem-solving mindset
  • Foster an environment of accountability and collaboration where there is cross-functional execution for the local leadership team
  • Ability to provide direction to supervisors, support company policies and overcome obstacles that prevent them from accomplishing goals.
  • Drive productivity and efficiency improvements.
  • Flexibility, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment are essential elements of this position.
  • Interacts with Sales and Marketing regularly to address Customer Market Conditions.
  • Functions as the ‘Site Lead’ in respect of the planning and execution of all cross functional events, town halls and other activities involving functional teams outside manufacturing that are present on the campus such as R&D, Service and Repair, Finance etc.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Engineering or a related discipline
  • 7-10 years in manufacturing environment with supervisory or management experience
  • Work experience in Continuous Improvement, expertise in RCCA execution desired
  • This roles requires the following leadership skills: Persistence, Adaptability, Problem Solving, Willingness to Learn, Ability to Empower and Motivate Teams, and Delegation
