Position Overview  

The Director - Life Sales will assist the Assistant Vice President and/or Vice President in providing leadership in the continuing development, procurement, and implementation of Life sales and Medicare Supplement in our multi-line states. The Director is responsible for providing direction, managing assigned departmental objectives, overseeing assigned staffing and expenses, ensuring the development and engagement of employees, and directing implementation for long-term strategic needs and initiatives.  

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists with administration, leadership, coaching, and feedback to direct reports which includes but is not limited to performance management, employee relations, creating development plans, and achievement of goals
  • Serves as a role model and change champion, developing strong teams to maximize resources and capability to deliver business results
  • Manages multiple business processes across one or more functional area
  • Establishes measurable individual and team objectives that are aligned with business and organizational goals
  • Ensures staff has the resources and skills needed to support all work initiatives, and implements training plans when there is a gap
  • Oversees the execution of multiple large and complex plans and projects aimed to achieve strategic goals for one or more functional area
  • Engages key stakeholders to proactively support strategic initiatives and departmental objectives, including the monitoring of production, recruitment, loss ratio, and debit balances on a monthly basis
  • Assists with development of departmental policies and standards for the company
  • Assists with departmental budget preparation, including those for departmental operations, project implementation, and training
  • Operates as a subject matter expert, providing direction and thought leadership in some aspects of departmental operations
  • Fosters positive relationships with key business stakeholders (internal and external) by understanding business priorities
  • Contributes to disaster recovery and business continuity plans and procedures for assigned departmental functions
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business-related field
  • Typically requires 8+ years of experience pertaining to departmental functions
  • Typically requires 5+ years of prior supervisory or managerial experience
  •  Master’s Degree in business-related field preferred 

 

Certifications & Licenses

  • Life and Health license required
  • At least one of the following designations are preferred: 
    • Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), Life Underwriter Training Council (LUTC), or Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF)N/A

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. 

Pay Range:   

    $126,000.00 - $172,000.00 annually      

  •  This range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position. Final compensation will depend on individual.
