Director, Institutional SalesRole Summary:
Responsible for selling investment management services to institutional clients. Investment management services in this context refer to the full range of investment solutions the organization may provide, ranging from individual asset solutions (such as active equity/fixed income strategies, private assets, and hedge funds) to full or partial outsourcing services.
The primary clients are institutional investors, including corporate pension funds, financial institutions, endowments, and foundations, with responsibility for driving sales of funds and separately managed accounts.
In addition, sell additional products such as transition management and custom portfolio solutions (CPS e.g., active & passive currency hedging, completion portfolios, downside protection).
Associates in this function may be eligible for a bonus.
Develops and directs short-term (> 1 yr) operational plans. A bridge role between mid-term and tactical focus.
Job Description:
This position has main responsibility to expand sales of Institutional Clients (Corporate Pension /Financial Institution including distributors) and has broad responsibility to expand sales of broader asset management services e.g. single asset class solutions, CPS and Consulting.
This position will coordinate / collaborate with other Client Services team members and Investment team members in the development of a solution-based sales strategy to clients.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
- Develop Revenue and AUM Acquisition Plan.
- Meet and exceed annual financial targets as agreed with MD.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the Institutions market segment, existing and prospective client relationships and solutions-based strategy.
- Delivering value-added advice and investment solutions that help our clients manage the investment process around planning/governance, asset allocation and strategy implementation and performance reporting and evaluation.
- Work closely with marketing and product groups to develop a solution-based value proposition for the Institutions segment.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts/resources.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
- More than 15 years of experience in the investment management industry or related fields with a successful track record in sales and/or sales management.
- In-depth knowledge of investment products, including private assets, the asset management industry.
- Successful sales experience in the financial industry or related fields; demonstrated knowledge of solution based selling techniques and persuasive communication and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within the team.
- High level of personal integrity and professionalism. Actual experience and knowledge of Investment Management,
- Native-level Japanese proficiency and communication skills are mandatory.
- Business-level English communication skills are required, including the ability to handle email correspondence, prepare client visit memos for overseas colleagues, and conduct client briefings.
