The Director of Development performs as a member of the development team, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor of Development and Marketing. The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive major gift program, including identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospective donors. This position will primarily work within its assigned schools: the School of Nursing, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Public Affairs and Social Services. The Director of Development will be responsible for donation solicitations primarily between $5,000 and $50,000. In coordination with the Vice Chancellor of Development and Marketing and foundation staff, the position helps oversee the impact of special/overarching funding priorities such as mental health services support, select cohort scholarship programs, and the laptop scholarship program.
The ideal candidate can manage time efficiently, develop strategies to secure solicitations, and build donor relationships that generate gifts aligned with the institution's strategic goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Donor Relations

  • Steward existing gifts and relationships with donors, primarily those related to designated schools
  • Cultivate new opportunities for giving aligned with the strategic plan and funding priorities
  • Identify new prospective donors with interests aligned with the campus’ needs, with a focus on the designated schools
  • Self-manage assigned donor portfolio of approximately 75 – 150 individual and corporate donors, and prospective donors
  • Utilize existing channels of giving to engage donors meaningfully
  • Aid in identifying and developing new channels of giving related to the institution’s strategic goals  
  • Analyze the needs and interests of institutional leadership and engage appropriate donors to develop relationships between the two parties

Organizational Tasks

  • Learn and convey the strategic goals and mission of Ivy Tech Community College and the Terre Haute campus/service area
  • Assist the Vice Chancellor of Development and Marketing in strategy development and implementation
  • Maintain accurate documentation of donor interactions and intentions, ensuring proper utilization of funds
  • Generate and analyze reports related to donor giving
  • Create custom proposals based on individual donor conversations and solicitations
  • Foster relationships with deans and faculty related to assigned schools

Special events and Initiatives

  • Assist with elements of annual signature events including sponsorship solicitations and donor recognition, event communications, and event participation
  • Routinely monitor the progress, impact, and potential needs of campus special initiatives like mental health services support, select cohort scholarship programs, and the laptop scholarship program.

Salary Range: $60-$65,000 annually

Education and Experience:

  • -Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
