The Role
Owns the company’s BI platform and data strategy across clinical, operations, finance, and HR functions. Responsibilities include setting the analytics product roadmap, governing data definitions and PHI, managing platform architecture, building dbt models and dashboards, delivering healthcare quality and value-based-care analytics, deploying conversational AI, coordinating vendors and multi-team programs, and developing an analytics team. The role requires hands-on ownership of clinical data, EHR integrations, semantic modeling, governance, and executive reporting.
Summary Generated by Built In

Theoria Medical is a comprehensive medical group and technology company dedicated to serving patients across the care continuum, with a strong focus on the post-acute care setting. We partner with facilities nationwide to improve the quality of care delivered, refine processes, and strengthen critical relationships. Our services include multispecialty physician care, telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, and more. We currently operate primary care clinics and provide medical services to skilled nursing facilities across multiple states.

As a forward-thinking, quality-driven physician group, Theoria continues to expand nationally. We are seeking talented leaders who are passionate about transforming healthcare delivery to join our team.

General Summary
This is a builder role, not a report-factory role — and it is two jobs at once. You are the product owner for our BI platform, deciding what gets built, for whom, and in what order, and you also own our company BI and data strategy. You will work with business stakeholders across clinical, operations, finance, and HR. You are also a hands-on builder who writes the dbt models, debugs the pipelines, and ships the dashboards yourself.

Our data lives across several systems and reporting layers today, alongside the usual sprawl of spreadsheets operators built because they needed answers now. We are hiring a leader to consolidate it into one trusted platform and turn it into the operating system our clinical and business teams run on.

 What You’ll Own

  • Data Strategy & Product Ownership: Owns the BI platform as a product: product knows the users regional and facility leadership, ACO and quality, finance, revenue cycle, and executives maintains a prioritized roadmap, and is accountable for adoption, not just delivery
  • Intake & Prioritization: Runs a visible queue with stated criteria and published trade-offs; gathers requirements first-hand instead of taking tickets, and is willing to tell a stakeholder the metric they have been using is wrong
  • Program Delivery: Scopes and sequences multi-team teamwork — source migrations, tool rollouts, ACO and quality reporting cycles — manages dependencies and vendors, and hits committed dates; owns rollout, training, and the unglamorous work of retiring the old report
  • Platform & Architecture: Owns the warehouse/lakehouse and BI layer end to end: ingestion from EHR (including ChartEasy™), billing and claims, ACO and payer files, and workforce systems; a tested, documented transformation layer; and a semantic model where “census,” “encounter,” and “readmission” mean one thing company-wide
  • Governance & Trust — Owns definitions, stewardship, role-based access, lineage, data-quality monitoring, and SLAs; acts as operational owner of PHI in the analytics environment alongside Compliance and Security, and extends the same governance to AI — approved models and BAAs, when data must be de-identified, and how AI-generated analysis gets validated
  • Hands-On Analytics: Personally builds what matters most: facility and regional operating dashboards, provider productivity, census and length-of-stay trends, quality and value-based care performance, and executive reporting; partners with ACO and quality on measure calculation, risk adjustment and HCC capture, and readmissions
  • AI in the Stack: Evaluates, pilots, and deploys conversational analytics and natural-language query on a semantic foundation solid enough to trust; chooses deliberately between frontier and self-hosted models on cost, latency, and what data may leave the environment; uses AI as daily leverage and sets the guardrails for how the team does the same
  • Team: Hires, onboards, and develops analysts and analytics engineers as the function grows, and sets the standards for code review, documentation, and delivery quality

Qualifications
Experience & Background

  • 6+ years in analytics, analytics engineering, or BI, including owning a data platform end to end rather than contributing to someone else’s
  • Demonstrated 3+ experience years’ experience running analytics as a product — owning a roadmap, arbitrating competing stakeholder demands, and being measured on adoption rather than tickets closed — plus a track record of multi-team delivery on committed dates
  • 3+ years Healthcare analytics experience with real fluency in post-acute or senior care operations: census, occupancy, length of stay, encounter volume, provider productivity, and facility-level performance
  • Hands-on work with clinical and EHR data, including interoperability feeds (HL7v2, FHIR, ADT, CCD/C-CDA), and with value-based care and quality analytics — ACO or Medicare Advantage, risk adjustment and HCC capture, readmissions, and CMS measure reporting
  • Practical experience handling PHI under HIPAA — access control, de-identification, and audit requirements

Technical Skills& Abilities

  • Deep SQL plus production experience across a modern stack: a cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, or equivalent), dbt, a managed ingestion tool (Fivetran, Airbyte), an orchestrator, and a modern BI platform with a semantic layer (Omni, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma)
  • Daily fluency with frontier LLMs and AI-assisted development tools, with the judgment to recognize when the output is wrong, and a working understanding of conversational analytics and semantic grounding
  • Ability to gather requirements first-hand and translate business questions into trusted, well-defined metrics
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) across clinical, operations, finance, and executive audiences
  • Problem solving, thinking autonomously, and owning the solution end to end
  • Commitment to data quality, governance, and ethical handling of protected health information
  • Preferred: first or early data hire, or building a data function from low maturity; formal product or project management experience alongside technical work; production Databricks and/or Snowflake, and Omni as a BI layer; having shipped conversational analytics or natural-language query to non-technical users; open-source or self-hosted models and LLMs applied to unstructured clinical text; people management or clear technical mentorship
