The Director Clinical Transplant Services is responsible for leading and managing transplant nurse coordination services and other assigned services within the Hoag Transplant Service Line, including the Kidney, Liver, Living Organ Donation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) programs.
Responsibilities- Provides 24-hour accountability for the quality of patient care, efficiency of clinical operations, and human resources management across all assigned Transplant Institute programs, including oversight of transplant nurse coordination and clinical services
- Designs, implements, and monitors the nursing management structure to optimally support all programs and patients within the established care model
- Oversees nursing operations and quality improvement initiatives through evaluation, execution, and monitoring of services across Transplant Programs
- Collaborates with Medical and Surgical Directors, serving as a facilitator in identifying and resolving issues related to transplant nursing clinical practices, and partners with Medical, Surgical, and Administrative leadership as a key member of the Transplant Administration team
- Participates in nursing-related budgeting, planning, development, and productivity management
- Provides the nursing perspective for marketing and outreach initiatives
- Assumes 24-hour Administrative Call responsibility during weekdays, weekends, and holidays
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related clinical or health science field
- 5+ years of combined clinical experience in organ donation and/or transplantation
- Strong working knowledge of UNOS/OPTN policies
- Master's degree (MSN, MHA, MBA, or related field) or currently enrolled in an advanced practice degree program
Preferred
- Experience working in solid organ programs (e.g. heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas)
- At least five years of leadership experience in an organ transplant program
