Taoti is looking for a Digital / Social / Content guru...
We're looking for someone to own the social media part of our business. A content creator at heart, always with cell phone at the ready to capture that magic moment--whether within the agency or for our clients.
But also someone that understands that there's more than just posting share-worthy shorts when it comes to social media. We're looking for someone deeply rooted in metrics and analytics so that we know if what we're doing on social is working, or how to adjust and optimize it.
Someone who gets our casual/tongue-in-cheek tone and can speak it fluently. Someone with basic Canva and CapCut skills (or your software of choice) to put together on-brand graphics/video/animation for posting. Someone who is overflowing with creative ideas and, if anything, needs to told when to pull it back a bit--not prodded to do something.
We also want someone who is passionate about how AI can not just make the role more productive, but can enable you to do things that you might otherwise not have been capable of (at least not on your own.)
That's it. That's the job, and if you're the right person, we don't need to bore you with a list of duties and job requirements.
A couple of other things that we think are important for this role:
- We're looking for a high-energy person with a big personality. Because if that's just who you are, it will come across in your content. And that's a big part of our brand, so we want it to come naturally to you and not something you have to fake.
- We're big on AI. We're past the point of dabbling. We're looking for someone who has already adopted AI into their daily methodology and is constantly researching and experimenting with how to leverage AI to spur our social media practice.
- Paid and Organic. Some social content is worth putting money behind. But where? How much? How will know if it's paying off? Part of your job is to have the answers to those questions (or at least know how to figure them out.)
- Because the nature of this job involves you creating content around real-life stuff that happens in our space, you actually need to be here. So while most of the team gets to telework 1 day per week, you generally need to consider this an in-house role. Which is not to say that you can never take a telework day when there is a good and specific reason to do so, but the right person wants to be here (in the office/venue), wants to be around people, thrives in a social environment, etc.
- Speaking of showing up, sometimes the best content opportunities will be at events that happen outside of business hours. So while not often, we may also need you to be available for some evening/weekend work (all within the District) to do a social media take over if we're at a big event, or something like that.
- And for the general list of "here's what we look for in a Taotian," please check out https://taoti.com/blog/culture/the-seven-habits-of-highly-effective-taotians-2025-edition/.
One final thought...
You may be sitting there thinking, "WTF? They want me to do/be EVERYTHING from a writer to designer to analyst to videographer, etc. etc... Yes and no. We're a creative marketing agency. We have people that do all these roles already. So we don't expect you to be an expert in everything. And when we want to do something really polished, we can call in the big guns on the team to help out. But the nature of social/marketing that we're talking about here is more raw, spontaneous, and 'real.' As such, it doesn't need to be (in fact, shouldn't be) highly produced and polished all the time. So we don't need you to be an art director caliber designer to bang out some effective design in Canva. We don't need you to be Steven Spielberg to whip out your phone and capture a time lapse of us setting up for a big event. So it's okay if you are not a pro at every aspect of this job, as long as you're willing to take a swing at all these things and learn on the job.
Logistics
This is a full-time, W2, “in-house” role based out of our Washington, DC office, with minor teleworking permitted for extenuating circumstances. But you should generally comfortable with the notion that this is an in-the-office kind of role.
What’s the corporate culture like?
“Fun but focused,” as one Taoti put it, is a great way to sum up our culture. We’re a fun and casual shop. The kind of place where you can wear whatever, come and go as you please, and have autonomy over your own day for the most part. But we take the work seriously and believe deep in the mission to make meaningful and measurable impacts for our clients. All the perks and shenanigans and borderline irreverent tone are fun, but to really fit in here, you need to be about the work.
We also believe in total transparency and open communication across teams and across ranks. Instead of chain-of-command, we want everyone to have and share their own voice. Every other Thursday, the CEO holds ‘CafeClutch’ just so he can hear ideas and feedback directly from the team instead of through the filter of management.
