The Decision Advantage within Defense at Leidos has an immediate opening for a DevSecOps Engineer on the Systems Engineering & Integration Contract (SEIC II), supporting Air Force Mission Planning with F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) & Navy partners. You will be joining a dynamic DevSecOps team that is delivering numerous next generation Mission Planning solutions into a variety of environments. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies meeting the diverse and expansive set of Mission Planning requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and debug advanced pipeline software supporting automated software builds, deployments, quality gates, and automated test workflows across complex delivery environments.
Provide technical expertise for sub-projects within the team related to composition, configuration, deployment, and validation of software products for user evaluation, integration & automated testing.
Develop sophisticated pipeline automation, including custom quality gate logic and API-based integrations with industry-standard DevOps, CI/CD, security, and test automation tooling.
Define, implement, and improve DevOps processes and toolchain integrations to enable reliable CI/CD across multiple technical areas and environments.
Design, compose, configure, and maintain Helm product charts, including advanced Helm template development, deployment validation, troubleshooting, and optimization within Kubernetes.
Integrate, deploy, and troubleshoot microservices-based architectures across Kubernetes-based platforms, including K8s, K3s, RKE2, and related container orchestration environments.
Develop and improve automated versioning, release management, configuration management, and environment provisioning capabilities to support repeatable and scalable software delivery.
Design and implement automated virtual machine provisioning, configuration, deployment, and lifecycle workflows using cloud provider APIs and infrastructure automation practices.
Diagnose and resolve complex Kubernetes, containerized application, virtual machine, deployment, integration, and pipeline issues spanning multiple systems, tools, and technical disciplines.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members on DevOps practices, deployment architecture, automation design, troubleshooting approaches, and solution implementation.
Communicate clearly and proactively with internal team members, project leads, technical stakeholders, and external partners via messaging platforms, discussions, documentation, and status updates.
Influence project and team decisions by recommending technical approaches, identifying risks, proposing process improvements, and ensuring delivery solutions meet program objectives and quality expectations.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field or equivalent years of experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
8+ years Software Engineering experience in any object-oriented programming language
U.S. Citizenship required, no dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) certification within 30 days of employment
Strong software engineering background with demonstrated experience developing, integrating, and troubleshooting web-based systems, APIs, and distributed or microservice-based architectures.
3+ years working in a DevSecOps environment & familiarity with DevSecOps best practices
Experience with branching & pull request workflows using software version control and repo tools
Ability to work in both Linux & Windows Operating Systems
Bash/Shell Scripting Experience
Experience with one or more Kubernetes cluster types (e.g., AKS (most preferred), EKS, GKE, OpenShift, K3s, RKE2s, Minikube) and Kubernetes applications (e.g., Kubectl, Helm, Rancher).
Experience with Docker containers (building, deploying & debugging)
Preferred Qualifications
Active SEC+ certification and Active Top Secret clearance
Experience integrating cyber security gating into pipelines
Experience with Git and Bitbucket software version control/repo tools
Experience with Virtual Machine Technology (Hyper-V, VMware Workstation)
Experience working in an Agile Development environment (SAFe Agile)
