We are looking for you if you:
- are an experienced network engineer
- have solid knowledge of Firewall /Firewall management systems (esp. Palo Alto. NSX)
- will be the bridge between software engineers and the infrastructure teams
understand security and risk principles in infrastructure design
are familiar with orchestration tools like Terraform and Ansible
have the intention to develop in Spring Boot (preferable) or Java EE
are experienced with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
are highly communicative and flexible
can stay focused in an environment with changing priorities
English level - C1
You'll get extra points for:
- scripting skills in Python, Bash or PowerShell,
- experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP),
- working knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices,
- familiarity with Scrum methodology (e.g. backlog, sprint planning, reviews),
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
- a proactive, can-do attitude with a mindset of continuous improvement,
- being a team player who values collaboration and knowledge sharing,
- end-to-end ownership mentality and ability to work independently,
- willingness to coach and support the development of others.
Your responsibilities:
- develop and automate firewall infrastructure using coding and orchestration tools
- collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions,
- participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to a shared team backlog,
- continuously improve software documentation, and processes,
- monitor, evaluate, and enhance Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management processes,
- contribute to Risk and Compliance improvements and evidencing.
Information about the squad:
Our squad is an international team located in The Netherlands (Amsterdam/Rotterdam) and Poland (Katowice/Warsaw), where we develop, maintain and manage a software solution to manage firewall rules for ING networks.
As a Network Engineer with an affinity with developing in Java, you’ll play a key role in delivering secure, scalable, and resilient solutions for, eventually, millions of customers.
You’ll work in an agile squad, collaborating closely with the Product Manager and fellow engineers to deliver high-impact solutions.
Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and reviews are part of your routine, supported by modern tools and a strong DevOps culture.
The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer III”.
