The Developer will design, create, maintain and test software per the technical and/or design specifications to adhere to requirements as defined by BSAs and business. The software developer is responsible for taking technical specifications and translating them into software to meet the requirements of requests made by IT or business units. The focus is on improving business performance through development of software.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Consult with clients and BSAs to understand software needs in order to translate them into detailed software designs.
- Consult with client and/or BSAs to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.
- Analyze, define, and document technical requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
- Write and maintain technical specifications including design specification and unit test plans.
- Design screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
- Analyze and estimate feasibility, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
- Develop and maintain plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs.
- Take specifications and develops software to meet requirements
- Perform unit testing to ensure software meets requirements
- Document software development process. Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
- Write documentation or reviews documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures.
- Adhere to software development life cycle (SDLC) of project, including using source control system
- Maintain appropriate communication with supervisory staff and project management regarding daily activities, workload and issues affecting milestone completion.
- Analyze code to find causes of errors and revises software.
- Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs.
Education, Requirements & Competencies
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in computer science related major from four-year College or university
- Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- This position requires advanced knowledge of and proven experience using the following technologies:
- C# and JavaScript languages
- XML and related technologies including XSL and XSLT
- Microsoft SQL Server – writing advanced queries, developing/debugging stored procedures and designing/developing database schemas using T-SQL
- Developing web applications using the Microsoft stack with ASP.Net MVC or a similar framework
- Developing and maintaining web services hosted in IIS or as Windows services via WCF
- Rest API
The base salary range is $89,000- $120,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
