About this opportunity:
We are now looking for an experienced Filter Designer with a deep interest in radio and RF filter design who wants to shape the next generations of 5G and 6G radio systems. You will work in Radio Design, responsible for research, development, and maintenance of radio units, together with global cross-functional teams.
By joining our Team, an important part of your role will consist of developing filter products, technical solutions, and components. You will be involved in various development activities like requirement analysis and definition, design, integration, verification, and product documentation.
A large extent of our work is performed together with Ericsson's teams from all over the world and several external suppliers. In this context, you will interface with radio design, antenna design, mechanical design, sourcing, and production. Co-operation with other design centers all over the World is our day-to-day reality and should represent an additional motivation for you to join our organization.
What you will do:
As a Filter Designer, you will be a key member of the team developing the next generation of RF filters integrated in Ericsson radio hardware. In this role, you will:
- Design and develop high-quality filter products, technical solutions, and components for our radio units.
- Perform requirement analysis and definition, ensuring system and design requirements are correctly interpreted, allocated, and translated into testable verification objectives.
- Simulate and develop new filter concepts and design solutions using industry-standard RF tools (for example HFSS and ADS) together with Ericsson's internal filter simulation and automation tools.
- Review design solutions and drive continuous improvements of products, methods, and processes.
- Perform integration, verification, and practical work with prototypes in collaboration with lab, production, and test engineering.
- Contribute to pre-development and technology studies, following and influencing developments in 5G and 6G radio systems.
- Work with strategic technical leadership within the filter design domain, including mentoring less experienced colleagues and sharing best practices.
- Support troubleshooting and customer cases within your technical area when needed.
The skills you bring:
- At least a MSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Several years of experience from RF filter technologies, including design knowledge and fabrication processes.
- Strong knowledge of radio and RF design, and a good understanding of cellular radio networks.
- Proficiency with HFSS and ADS (or equivalent RF simulation tools).
- Ability to interpret and apply system-level requirements to the filter design domain, including traceability and verification planning.
- Proven ability to work in cross-functional, network-oriented organizations and collaborate effectively across sites and cultures.
- Proven ability to work effectively with external partners and suppliers.
- Workable spoken and written English (Japanese language skills are a plus), comfortable presenting technical work and review outcomes with a passion for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Experience or clear potential to take informal technical leadership, mentor others, and influence technical direction.
- Familiarity with Lean & Agile ways of working.
