About this Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated, self-directed designer to play a meaningful role in supporting MillerKnoll’s North America sales efforts from India. In this role, you will partner with sales, dealer, and design teams to develop high-quality workplace solutions that help bring customer opportunities to life across a highly visible and strategically important market. We are looking for a proactive go-getter: someone who takes ownership, works well independently, communicates with confidence, and brings strong attention to detail, curiosity, and follow-through to every project. For the right candidate, this role offers the chance to build global experience, contribute to critical North America client projects, and be part of a collaborative team that directly supports business growth, customer success, and the MillerKnoll design standards.

General Purpose

Responsible for providing high-quality workplace design, product application, and pre-sales support to North America sales, dealer, and design teams while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely project delivery. Utilizes interior design principles, space planning expertise, and deep knowledge of the MillerKnoll portfolio to develop workplace solutions that align with customer requirements, basis of design, standards, technical specifications, and business objectives. Creates design concepts, CET drawings, renderings, specifications, bills of materials, pricing documentation, and proposal support materials for commercial and government projects. Collaborates closely with North America design teams, sales partners, dealers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative, code-compliant, and customer-focused solutions. This position works independently with general supervision and contributes to departmental objectives through reliable execution, technical expertise, continuous improvement, and effective global collaboration.

Specific responsibilities

• Develop innovative workplace design solutions that align with client objectives, MillerKnoll standards, design principles, and project requirements while supporting both commercial and government environments.

• Partner with the North America Design team, NA Sales, and NA Dealers to conduct

needs assessments, and translate customer goals into functional workplace

solutions.

• Create and communicate design concepts through CET drawings, renderings,

specifications, typicals, floor plan options, product lists, cut sheets, and

presentation materials.

• Prepare accurate specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), take-offs, pricing, and

documentation that support RFPs, bids, proposals, and project execution while

maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.

• Apply expertise in product application and value engineering, to optimize customer

outcomes while balancing design intent, budget, and performance requirements.

• Coordinate with Product Management, Specials teams, to deliver integrated

solutions and resolve project-specific application challenges.

• Ensure all drawings, specifications, and applications comply with local building

codes, North America ADA requirements, MillerKnoll standards, and customerspecific

criteria.

• Manage multiple, assigned, concurrent projects by estimating scope, prioritizing

workloads, tracking progress, maintaining project documentation, and meeting

established delivery timelines and service level expectations.

• Provide design support throughout key project phases, including client

presentations, design reviews, mockups, specification development, and project

closeout activities.

• Maintain strong communication and professional relationships with dealer partners,

MK sales teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure a high level of customer

satisfaction and project success.

• Continuously expand knowledge of industry trends, workplace strategy, MillerKnoll

and affiliated product portfolios, design technologies, and competitive offerings to

enhance solution development and client value.

• Identify opportunities to improve design processes, workflows, standards, and

resource utilization while contributing ideas that increase efficiency, quality, and

scalability across the team.

• Provide guidance, coaching, and knowledge-sharing support to designers and team

members while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across the

organization.

• Actively contribute as a collaborative team member, supporting sales, project

management, customer service, and fellow designers to ensure successful project

delivery and exceptional client outcomes.

Qualifications

Education and experience

Essentials

• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architectural Design, Industrial Design, or a

related discipline.

• 100% fluent in the English language

• A minimum of 3-5 years of proven design, application and typical development

proven success.

Skills and Abilities

Essentials

• Proficiency with CET/Configura, specification tools, Microsoft Office, and productapplication

workflows used to develop customer-facing workplace solutions;

working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or related design platforms

preferred.

• Strong understanding of workplace planning, furniture systems, product

application, typical development, specifications, bills of materials, pricing

documentation, and proposal support.

• Ability to translate customer requirements, design intent, standards, and technical

criteria into accurate, functional, and visually clear workplace solutions.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret drawings, validate

specifications, identify inconsistencies, and resolve product application or planning

issues.

• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to

manage ambiguity and recommend practical solutions within scope, timeline,

budget, and customer expectations.

• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills in English, with the ability to

communicate design rationale, technical information, and project requirements

clearly to internal and external partners.

• Professional presence with the ability to influence through technical credibility,

collaborative problem-solving, and clear communication in sales, dealer, customer,

and cross-functional interactions.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assigned projects,

prioritize work, meet established deadlines, and maintain accurate project

documentation in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently.

• Customer-focused collaborator with strong interpersonal skills, able to build trust,

communicate professionally, and partner effectively with sales, dealer, design,

product, global, and cross-functional teams to support strong stakeholder

relationships and high-quality client outcomes.

• Adaptability to support changing business needs, project priorities, time zones,

global team needs, and adjusted work schedules, including the Noon/UK shift -

12:00pm - 9:00pm.

• Experience in contract furniture, commercial interiors, workplace design,

architecture, or related industry.

• Proactive and solutions-oriented, with demonstrated initiative, ownership, and

follow-through.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with MillerKnoll products, affiliated brands, application standards, or

dealer/sales support processes.

• Knowledge of North America accessibility, code, sustainability, ergonomics, or

workplace strategy considerations as they relate to furniture planning and product

application.

• Experience working with international, distributed, sales-support, dealer-support,

or cross-functional project teams.

• Demonstrated ability to share knowledge, influence decisions, and contribute to

improvement of workplace design/application practices.
