National Oilwell Varco (NOV) has an immediate opening at its Dayton, Ohio office for a Design Engineer to support its industrial mixing equipment product lines.  The Dayton officer is the design center for NOV’s Chemineer™ rotating mixers and Prochem™ belt driven mixers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design and detailing of mixing products with emphasis on customer needs, quality, budget, safety and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Interpreting customer supplied drawings and technical specifications to define customer needs.

  • Performing calculations to ensure designs are of the highest quality and longest life.

  • Creating parts, assemblies and drawings using Solidworks 3D CAD software.

  • Creating part numbers and bills of material in Teamcenter product lifecycle management software.

  • Working with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are in line with factory capabilities, cost objectives, and core competencies.

  • Providing engineering and operational support to machinists, suppliers and assemblers.

  • Executing engineering changes to legacy products.

  • Developing and implementing cost reduction and process improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

  • Assisting with project planning, production coordination, documentation management, and execution activities to support organizational and customer objectives.

  • Participating in cross-functional collaboration involving engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and business operations to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree.

  • Proficiency using Solidworks 3D CAD software.

  • Familiarity with EPDM Product Data Management software.

  • A working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience creating part numbers and bills of material.

  • Strong organizational, project coordination, and cross-functional communication skills.

  • Ability to support process improvement, operational efficiency, and project execution activities within a manufacturing environment.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with selection and implementation of power transmission components in machine design
  • Experience designing industrial machinery (rotating equipment a plus)
  • Proficiency using SolidWorks 3D CAD software
  • Familiarity with EPDM Product Data Management software
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience creating part numbers and bills of material
  • Rotating equipment experience
