This permanent role within the organization is responsible for the technology delivery for the GTO International Business Unit, supporting the Data Control product lines. The role will be part of a team working closely with their IT colleagues, and Business teams, to deliver results for the company, while improving the ease of doing business for the organization’s internal clients by improvements to IT infrastructure and processes.
This role as Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator will be in charge of maintaining, managing, and monitoring the performance of databases, identifying any problems or inconsistencies, performing corrective measures, and devising proactive maintenance and improvement plans to ensure resiliency, stability and scalability of the database environment.
Responsibilities:

Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for database-related incidents, working closely with the Incident, management, and escalation teams.

Perform routine database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, migration, patches, and upgrades of database systems.

Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.

Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.

Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.

Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams to provide database support for applications and projects.

Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and problems, both independently and in collaboration with other technical teams.

Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.

Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
-
3 - 5 years of experience in Microsoft SQL database administration, with proven work experience as a DBA or similar role, with expertise in database administration for large-scale systems.

Knowledge of advanced database systems like PostgreSQL, Greenplum, Mongo DB, Cassandra is a plus;

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Windows, Unix or Linux.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their RDBMS databases.

Proficiency in Shell script or Power shell, SQL scripting, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.

Good experience in all HA DR solutions.

Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools.

Experience with database backup and recovery strategies and techniques.

Knowledge of data modeling and database architecture principles.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
