Job Overview

Macrobond Financial is looking for an experienced Data Tools Team Manager to lead and develop a team of approximately 20 software development professionals across multiple squads.

This is primarily a people leadership and delivery management role, with responsibility for team performance, workforce planning, operational excellence, stakeholder management, and delivery outcomes.

While hands-on software development is not required, the successful candidate should have a solid understanding of software development environments and delivery practices. They should be comfortable working with technical experts, discussing technical topics, assessing delivery risks, facilitating decision-making, and coordinating work across a complex software landscape.

The role works closely with Technical Coordinators, Principal Engineers, and Squad Leads, who provide technical architecture and engineering leadership.

Please note: This position is offered as a fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover. The preferred location for this position is Szczecin, Poland.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Data Tools Team, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.
  • Set objectives, conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and support employee development.
  • Promote employee engagement, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and workforce development activities.

Delivery & Operations

  • Oversee team capacity, resource planning, workload balancing, and delivery coordination.
  • Support Agile ways of working, including sprint planning, capacity planning, and delivery monitoring.
  • Lead operational activities, planning sessions, and team meetings.
  • Monitor delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and resource needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, collaboration models, and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the business.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Development Teams, Content Teams, Sales, and Senior Leadership.
  • Ensure alignment between business priorities, stakeholder expectations, and available team capacity.
  • Communicate project status, priorities, risks, and delivery plans to key stakeholders.
  • Support organizational initiatives and cross-functional projects that deliver business value.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Leadership & Management

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing teams and developing people.
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams, foster engagement, and support professional growth.
  • Experience conducting performance reviews, coaching employees, and supporting career development.
  • Experience with recruitment, workforce planning, and resource allocation.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Software Delivery & Technical Understanding

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in software development organizations and collaborating with engineering teams.
  • Experience leading technical professionals without necessarily being the primary technical decision-maker.
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycles, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and delivery practices.
  • Experience in project planning, delivery oversight, effort estimation, resource management, and risk mitigation.
  • Practical experience with Jira or similar work management tools.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear delivery priorities and work effectively with technical stakeholders.

Technical Leadership & Coordination

The successful candidate is not expected to be a software developer or architect. However, they should be comfortable discussing technical topics with engineering teams, understanding delivery implications, identifying risks, prioritizing work, and making informed management decisions across areas such as:

  • C# (.NET Framework, .NET Core)
  • WPF and desktop applications
  • SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Web APIs (HTTP/REST/JSON)

Hands-on development experience is not required.
