Chewy's AI & Data organization is seeking a Data Steward III to lead Chewy's enterprise-wide strategy for data quality, lineage, and documentation across Snowflake, dbt Cloud, and the BI ecosystem (Tableau, Sigma, Omni).
As a system-level designer and mentor, you'll architect AI-driven stewardship frameworks that automate quality monitoring, enrich metadata, and unify governance across modeling and visualization layers. You'll lead governance councils, mentor stewards, and work closely with data engineering and AI platform teams to build the systems that make Chewy's data both trusted and intelligent.
What You'll Do
- Architect and scale stewardship frameworks that integrate governance across dbt, Snowflake, and BI tools.
- Define enterprise standards for documentation, lineage, certification, and data trust.
- Deploy AI and machine learning models that automatically tag, classify, and assess the health of datasets and dashboards.
- Partner with engineering and AI platform teams to embed autonomous data quality and metadata enrichment processes.
- Build lineage maps and quality dashboards connecting the dbt metrics layer to BI content.
- Lead the stewardship and governance councils across Chewy's business domains and data collections.
- Serve as the final authority for enterprise KPI definitions, resolving metric conflicts and enforcing cross-domain standardization.
- Partner with data owners to set enterprise observability standards and champion data security and privacy in governance practices.
- Define stewardship SLAs and publish reliability scorecards (freshness, DQ incidents, MTTR, documentation time-to-update) across data collections.
- Mentor and develop stewards and analysts, building AI literacy into governance culture.
- Communicate the impact of stewardship improvements through trust, efficiency, and cost savings metrics.
What You'll Need
- 6+ years of experience in data stewardship, governance, or metadata management.
- Deep experience with dbt Cloud (model structure, testing, documentation) and Snowflake.
- Expertise in BI governance (Tableau, Sigma, Omni) and metric consistency frameworks.
- Proven ability to design and operationalize enterprise data governance programs.
- Familiarity with AI/ML tools for metadata enrichment, anomaly detection, or quality monitoring.
- Strong mentorship, leadership, and communication skills; ability to align technical and business teams.
Why You'll Love This Role
- Shape Chewy's AI-enabled approach to data governance and trust.
- Build systems that automatically monitor, document, and improve data quality across the stack.
- Lead cultural change in how AI assists stewardship and quality operations.
- See your frameworks directly improve how data is used, trusted, and understood company-wide.
