Leidos tackles the most challenging national defense problems using advanced signal processing and data analytics. At our San Diego office, we have a dedicated and experienced team of scientists and engineers devoted to squeezing the last bit of information from every data set. We are currently seeking data scientists to join our leading-edge research and engineering group.
In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary team members focused on Physics (Hydrodynamics, Acoustics, RF and EO/IR propagation, among other areas) and Machine Learning to design, implement, and deliver cutting edge machine Signal Processing solutions to complex problems of national importance.

Primary Responsibilities
Identify, prototype, and deploy appropriate (off-the-shelf, fine tuning, or custom) machine learning solutions utilizing state-of-the-art methods and in-depth data analysis.
Implement advanced statistical concepts, algorithms and techniques to extract, consolidate, and analyze unstructured, classified “big data” sources to generate actionable insights.
Collaborate with a team of other applied scientists, engineers, researchers & program managers to research and develop machine learning solutions to novel problems.
Engage in continuous learning and development, staying current with the latest advances in AI/ML and data science to ensure fit-for-purpose and impactful approaches.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
Strong understanding of machine learning theory, concepts, and algorithms
Proficient in modern data exploration techniques and tools
Experience developing and implementing machine learned solutions
Familiarization with modern AI/ML algorithms and libraries
Fluency in C/C++, Python
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Required on-site full-time work in San Diego, CA
Currently holds an active US Government Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing research to develop data science solutions
Experience implementing and applying advanced physical and mathematical concepts in software applications
Experience with active or passive sensor data and relevant signal processing techniques
Experience with Large Language Model (LLM) development and deployment
Familiarization with Fortran or Matlab
