Data Scientist Manager
U.S. Bank’s Credit Risk Administration (CRA) team is seeking a data science manager with leadership experience in a quantitative/technical field to lead a new team of model performance monitoring analysts within our Model Development & Decision Science (MDDS) team.

About the Role
In this role, you will oversee a team of analysts responsible developing, maintaining, and executing processes to systematically track and report on the performance and stability of predictive models used by the Credit Risk Management business line. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, a background in both programming and data analytics, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for problem solving.
Key Activities

Recruiting, hiring, and training new team members; conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback.

Overseeing the quarterly model monitoring process to assess the ongoing performance of predictive models and generate reports and dashboards to communicate results.

Reviewing and validating the team’s output to maintain high standards and alignment with internal and external requirements.

Identifying opportunities for streamlining and automating processes for data capture, quantitative testing, documentation, and visualization.

Collaborating with model development and implementation teams to execute common goals and maintain alignment in processes.

Mentoring and fostering an environment of continued learning and development for the team members.

Exploring the use of machine learning and AI to improve process efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative field such as computer science, data science, mathematics, or statistics (Masters preferred);
-
6 or more years of experience in a data analytics, software development, or related role;
-
Industry experience in banking or financial services;
-
Demonstrated success building and leading teams of data scientists or analysts in similarly technical fields;
-
Programming experience in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn), SAS, R or similar statistical packages;
-
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills;
-
Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Data visualization dashboard technologies such as PowerBI and Tableau

Automation using Bash/shell scripting

The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
