We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join Core Services group and help us benchmark, evaluate, and guide the future of search and information retrieval at monday.com. This role is all about understanding how our users search data in monday.com, how they interact with AI products using search, and how we can push the limits of retrieval and ranking models to meet their needs.
The role is based in our Warsaw office - established in 2022, it is a growing hub for engineers who love solving impactful problems. Teams here work on a broad range of challenges that push the boundaries of our products and infrastructure.
About The Role
- Build and maintain benchmark sets to evaluate our search stack end-to-end (vector search, lexical search, user-contextual search).
- Design and run experiments to understand user and AI products search patterns, and information needs.
- Evaluate and compare embedding models, cross-encoders, and textualization strategies, making proactive recommendations for adoption.
- Assess alternative vector DBs, configurations, and query parameters to drive improvements in retrieval quality.
- Extend benchmarks into future-facing models (query refinement and understanding, scoring models combining multiple signals).
- Interpret results and drive data-backed technical direction to improve search capabilities across monday.com.
- Partner closely with AI engineers, ML Ops, and product teams to turn insights into scalable features.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or Research Scientist working on search, NLP, or ML-driven products.
- Hands-on experience with vector databases, embeddings, cross-encoders, and evaluation methodologies.
- Strong background in experimental design, A/B testing, and data analysis.
- Proven track record of translating user interaction data into product and technical insights.
- Familiarity with query understanding, ranking models, and search evaluation metrics
- Strong communication skills—you can present complex evaluation results in a clear, actionable way.
- Bonus: Experience working with large-scale user behavior data and building proactive evaluation frameworks.
