  • Design and execute comprehensive data quality tests across SQL databases, flat files, data lakes, and non-SQL systems to identify anomalies, inconsistencies, and integrity issues
  • Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies, tracing issues from source systems through transformation pipelines to final reporting layers
  • Explore and analyze product and business data to identify unusual patterns, outliers, and signals that may indicate quality problems or process gaps
  • Validate new or unexpected data behaviors and assess their impact on customer experience, business operations, and product performance
  • Identify and quantify groups or entities exhibiting similar data characteristics that suggest systemic issues
  • Troubleshoot complex data issues by collaborating with data engineering, product, and business teams to understand context and determine appropriate solutions
  • Develop actionable recommendations for data quality improvements, including process changes, system enhancements, and preventive controls
  • Partner with technical teams to implement data quality fixes and validate their effectiveness
  • Establish and maintain data quality metrics and scorecards to track improvement over time
  • Create clear, comprehensive documentation of data quality issues, including impact assessments, resolution steps, and preventive measures
  • Document data quality testing methodologies, standards, and best practices to support consistency and knowledge sharing
  • Present findings to cross-functional teams and leadership in a clear, compelling manner that highlights business impact and recommended actions
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations that highlight data quality trends, problem areas, and improvement opportunities
  • Translate complex data quality concepts into accessible insights for diverse audiences, from technical engineers to business stakeholders

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
  • Up to 2+ years of experience in data quality analysis, data analytics, or related role with strong focus on data validation and testing
  • SQL proficiency (Snowflake, Postgres, MSSQL) with ability to write queries for data profiling, quality checks, and anomaly detection across relational databases
  • Familiarity with Python or R for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and automated quality testing is a plus
  • Experience with data quality testing frameworks and methodologies
  • Familiarity with non-SQL data formats (JSON, XML, NoSQL such as MongoDB) and data lakes
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance standards, and audit requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail - ability to spot subtle inconsistencies and patterns that others might miss
  • Strong analytical thinking - capacity to approach problems systematically and determine root causes
  • Pattern recognition skills - natural ability to identify trends, outliers, and behavioral anomalies in complex datasets
  • Excellent documentation abilities - talent for creating clear, thorough, and organized documentation of data sources, processes, testing methodologies, and quality metrics
  • Outstanding communication skills - ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences and advocate for data quality improvements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and the ability to influence beyond reporting structure
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Problem-solving orientation with focus on practical, implementable solutions
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently and apply problem-solving skills to recommend actions that improve data reliability
  • Work well in a virtual team environment with strong collaboration skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

Nice to have:
  • Experience with data quality tools (e.g., Great Expectations, Datafold, Monte Carlo)
  • Familiarity with data observability and monitoring platforms
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline architectures
  • Experience with software development tools such as Git, Airflow, Docker
  • Experience using data visualization libraries and dashboarding tools (Looker, Tableau) to create quality monitoring dashboards
  • Background in data profiling and statistical process control
  • Certification in data quality or data governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP)
