About this role
The VP – Data Platform Managed Services & Operations provides hands-on operational leadership for enterprise data platforms, including ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow), streaming platforms, and Snowflake workloads operating on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). The role combines strong troubleshooting expertise with a transformation mindset, driving SLA adherence, platform stability, and continuous improvement. A key focus is on modernizing operations through automation and AIassisted monitoring, enabling proactive, scalable, and resilient data platform support while leading a small, globally aligned operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Ownership
Lead daily production operations for ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration frameworks, streaming systems, and Snowflake workloads.
Act as the first escalation point for L1/L2 incidents, ensuring timely triage, mitigation, and communication.
Execute and oversee pipeline reruns, data validations, reconciliations, and operational checks in line with defined runbooks.
Ensure consistent SLA adherence for data availability, freshness, and incident response.
Monitoring & Observability
Ensure effective use of monitoring, alerting, and observability tools to proactively identify operational risks.
Apply strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to investigate alerts, data delays, pipeline failures, and quality issues, identifying root causes across orchestration, compute, storage, and dependencies.
Monitor trends in data latency, and data quality, escalating systemic risks where required.
Incident & Problem Management
Coordinate incident response activities, including impact assessment, root cause investigation support, and postincident documentation.
Work closely with engineering teams to handoff complex issues and validate fixes.
Track recurring failures and data quality issues, contributing to RCA and corrective actions.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and support Analysts and Associates during shifts and handovers.
Assign work, manage priorities, and ensure coverage across operational hours.
Support onboarding of new team members and reinforce operational best practices.
Operational Improvement
Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through scripting, automation, and process improvements.
Maintain and improve runbooks, checklists, and operational documentation.
Support onboarding of new pipelines and use cases by validating operational readiness.
Clientfacing communication (incidents & onboarding)
Act as a trusted operational contact for clients during onboarding, golives, and production incidents, clearly communicating platform readiness, SLAs, risks, incidents, and remediation plans, and translating complex data platform, Snowflake, and orchestration (Airflow) topics into concise, clientready updates through transition to steady state.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Solid understanding of data platforms, including data lakes, data warehouses, streaming, and Snowflake.
Handson experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
Practical knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability concepts.
