Your Impact

As a G6 Data Engineer, you will be pivotal in designing and maintaining robust data pipelines that power our global operations. You will play a key role in modernizing our data landscape, ensuring high-quality, reliable data delivery across our ecosystem. This role is exciting because you will work at the intersection of established enterprise systems and cutting-edge cloud platforms, directly influencing how Cisco leverages data to power the decision making and support our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Informatica and DBT to support enterprise data requirements.
  • Develop and optimize complex PL/SQL stored procedures and queries to ensure high-performance data processing and retrieval.
  • Lead data migration and integration efforts across diverse environments, including Teradata, Google BigQuery, and Snowflake.
  • Implement automation strategies using Python to streamline data workflows, reduce manual intervention, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and business analysts, to ensure data integrity and alignment with evolving business goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in data engineering, database development, or a similar technical role.
  • Advanced proficiency in PL/SQL and proven experience working with Teradata database systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, specifically Google BigQuery and Snowflake.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing data pipelines using ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica and DBT.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Python scripting specifically for automation and complex data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage data codebases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a dedicated focus on data quality and governance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in mentoring team members or leading technical initiatives within a data engineering function.
