Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Radiochemistry & Molecular Imaging Probes (RMIP) Core at MSK is seeking a versatile and hands-on Cyclotron Engineer to support cyclotron operations, radiopharmaceutical production, chemistry automation initiatives, and laboratory equipment maintenance.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, learning new technologies, and working across a wide variety of equipment and projects. While the position supports cyclotron operations, prior cyclotron experience is not required. We welcome candidates from mechanical, electrical, chemical, nuclear, biomedical, and related engineering backgrounds who are eager to learn in a highly specialized research and production environment. 

Role Overview:

  • Operate and support maintenance of the PETtrace 880 Cyclotron. 

  • Troubleshoot cyclotron systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and fluid components. 

  • Operate chemical synthesizers for radionuclide and radiopharmaceutical production. 

  • Support development, testing, and optimization of automation processes for new radiopharmaceuticals. 

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laboratory equipment, including hot cells, HPLC, TLC, GC, telemanipulators, and related systems/softwares. 

  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with equipment vendors and service providers. 

  • Manage installation and commissioning of new laboratory equipment and technical projects. 

  • Maintain engineering workspaces, technical areas, and equipment inventory. 

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, chemistry automation projects, and laboratory operations. 

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. 

  • 3+ years of experience working with and troubleshooting complex technical, laboratory, industrial, manufacturing, or automated systems. 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to unfamiliar equipment. 

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. 

  • Prior cyclotron or radiopharmaceutical experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning. 

  • Technical curiosity and willingness to take on unfamiliar challenges. 

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Basic programming, automation, or instrumentation experience is a plus. 

  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs frequently.

  • Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site M-F 37.5 hours

Pay Range: $47.54 - $76.10
